I ate tapas in the street, wandered about on my own and fell in love with around a city I'd previously written off.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcSFZVfdq4DFeOZYbXEB1qHqrLgbrqkJtNLlGinrIGgmEqRHO5Z1fx7RSztw-0kn-dWxHu8LTNOqWi8uJoXhjufMtUgTofmyTew4kmfBeeRas2p2X0rL8c4CtIW7kYkPkqDsusWkzmufGW-ts_CNWRkXl_XZj9gfxVkXiNZBZzxTXS_yQIZvt07vEB_Vk/s320/20231004_121218.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4W9-QoXg3APvVQAI6uiMnzItXmvxpDhOgQuL55H389R0C450qnXfFilmGO2jw8KldFt-h0ADcGI__4mE6U1Q_a4L-n1UPnFkakm2GN_vmH-E-E2F4Q1T2DObGJMgjbWDBnnQf3a5gCJZHkifhVOW9coYY-2qw3a3__KYP2dAsW7ZDPZXvbB6r6bDucqk/s320/20231004_214740.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB63SW3vBcBYulLfpfHYnoKWop1CXlwYQb0bLSuUOYgMOkhKn44R_PoynlRr8C7W2yFUpzFJZD_y2IG6NeE2edNLAWUlNofa83XCJsmUm6NoZzCZNsIsEFsyHCtqQNgt1sr_nEw4K5qm8nrfVMcAPMqPy6RmO1tpjdF_k59axT0dkDV83ysGGKSR1_7TY/s320/20231003_194552.jpg" width="240" /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h3><h3 style="text-align: left;">Indonesia</h3><p>Having already flown to Asia earlier in the year I was looking for another excuse to go back so when I saw
that another favourite band of mine, Bring me the horizon were
playing in Jakarta it was the perfect excuse. </p><p>Jakarta was another place I had no interest in visiting, I was only there to see the band but funnily enough, this was another place I ended up really loving. </p><p>Bali I know well and with a mix of luxury hostels and private treetop villas, it was a wonderfully varied trip. I made friends and went to beach clubs some days and jumped between delivery food by my private plunge pool and the spa on others. </p><p>This trip was less
reflective and more grounding. I looked at it as a healing trip and wanted it to be about getting back to myself
and being happy - and that's exactly what happened. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1797" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIQiI-sKX2iHPORPPmqpDHs3AkMrRR4hVEa65mVgIY13lYMhnlFfr8mmoLkYErFSxnCzBZyXwFv57HXfKC15pcyqcGt2rDFZ2vnGWrRJ1kGU4-or0M1rR_aC35TfW6mKuB4b-Azh_Zyh2ffiaMSKzLsHITr0FoMPUyrlp3-XShUao3txK1YsAX5qQCgLA/s320/Screenshot_20231110_225716_Instagram.jpg" width="192" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHu6UBYwzDTP0ShyPKBMsv-MGnq2EWzxl7SieqR10D7kZmb_anhvlDpRrqEEsEdjP3YaVbcnTwvjxm4Gp_mTbhSOC3fhNz6HaGMkKF9Wj_-mmGr_GlM_sBfhvJDMR2rfhSeMQhgZLCklPwRnzBrxxa6FVVyr-TyjWKm0DGqzhz34DqGizn5mGGQL_h8Ow/s320/IMG_20231114_021028_221.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="4608" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAlpKZysqyd_T7T1tDpvsmEFhWA2C_dMZtgqJI1T9Vnk5aye7CWu9n7_Abze6B7B-uZrun1eRIJ5APbfeaZcFNhfjMaRNHcOV8kXVIhXf3_jFaOZ-SO8ipIXlyOG3MUloCksdV5VycpSqCZtuHXDJUnfuyqCsSjSH4a56hYRr8uIpsogZ1yt9aHDiVq5o/s320/IMG_20231114_151756_874.jpg" width="320" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1802" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiR023CNaBcEkw9b_n6DhL-LswyuA066TuvfDNMM7Rx_CSrpzn4O5gI8HFYAVR0IejBAsy8y8PSdr_f-aK0_U7Qyfa58NohVH_C4VJO_R2D6yiCkFW4GmIR-TlXkIR5x2xwh8FwX4qDormD3GjscrLOcFJaH-ePQb6UZsKch7zjabKTfjy0wprxvu0YH6Y/s320/IMG_20231114_154727_325.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHsFxpCNUqrv8UOOWbxp4Vs1Xmnq6qROaU9ZKvjxQaCVPsj9pHe_EThuBsp8_5DUU3sww0XN-wkreIA_VfPX54rwPmhaBLUMqPTkXou6mSkxYF44pwwhss3V8l1XnBRO4-PrkJfw5B0BVbHvHWtZDFSuQLmlXJI-liGJSB0ck-XaqADgixJrvsosHbCZE/s320/IMG_20231117_163443_629.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I am very grateful I was able to travel so much this year and after a couple of quieter years due to covid, it reminded me just how happy travel makes me. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;">I'd never had any interest in visiting Jakarta, but with Bring Me The Horizon playing a gig there I finally had a reason to visit.</span></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8BG3CpLSxjbs6egKwHNOYDCKvydHzjzywKMhN5KE5HgpyIadJCvrxTXLu288WEaqJLxmi5N2yTolhwVFZuahh4fGjjuKFBmPkQ7jPLl1CRCJ8Wx0QiWkQXs8xuLL4rZi1MjpZohzmfzVUf0oQuaHNfWHJjBFzH1G9d_4peMOnszkxxhgAHQeOC2f2EqI/s16000/20231111_160402.jpg" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Buying tickets for show was no easy feat. The app they were sold through had no English translation so in desperation I reached out to a skating page I'd been following on instagram, that happened to be based in Jakarta and they helped me out. I was so grateful - and excited - we agreed to meet when I arrived.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Jakarta surprised me. Polluted, grey and chaotic, yet oddly charming. I liked it because even though it was mayhem there was an unexpected order beneath it all and noticeable level of quality. Modern cars, well maintained shopping centres, and everyone seemed to be wearing fresh, branded clothes. Plus I don't really know what I was expecting but my new friends all had normal office jobs.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Jakarta seems to me, to be a city of contrasts, which surprised me beyond the initial chaos.</div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhz4B69Qdm4IbmzwsZfqYHCed-sKAK6C2J1nbT2OYTCdIOclpPdoh3zsDYVdYrkkKnxF-Q3g33id_x4uezlJZFEvso_b3JALUT_mc5y8PMciYP8mP5HdSENahELauWuHS2FHnHjFvtXxf9EuFYzpHM47IURL0NmUfOqMvYRkGLTvrGe__1F3OIFQI3SilU/s320/20231110_183307.jpg" width="240" /><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXKs5hu5OmTkEANqzjYrywphmHggi_PDl6ouovyGuDRcDgAqXCugqmKFK9EqPBqHItXPivP3O0eAq9PaNkLaVeIRR66vmrFGl4JsNcMRXcYuWgeBQ8rn__4c22QfM24rccdyYFNtXW_k1S00GP52yRX37sFOzTtjoVh0rMr-UCzR0znLQCufQsihwRZOA/s320/20231111_225006.jpg" width="240" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Excited to finally meet, I got a motorbike taxi to meet Rossi in the city centre. A big hug and friendly face was very welcome after 18 hours of travel.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">She brought along a couple of friends and after introductions, they took me to a street food stall on the side of a crazy road. We ate food I'd never seen before - a curious chicken foot and pork knuckle soup (I think), with cows skin crackers. Odd but exciting. I love trying new food. The delights continued with some kind of sweet tea and chewy pandan cakes whilst we discussed our respective lives on opposite sides of the world.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdVEjfn_mgsxlCpbYL2YicqJtjGN2G2zP049bUF_MDpcW_NRERcM7x1NzXPQREg_Y1HZzdLvVtRRgeh9NGnHBN8ngqsQmAICEscA5ZPWWhyJR_VgoNBQ7UfStUAf_b1P5srtLzVC6BVD5UgQkxG3d06ffAT5FIgHEkzkULBdwHDDviU2vBnoxfAPVD9vw/s320/IMG_20231112_001316_506.jpg" width="256" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">After dinner we headed to a Treehouse style rooftop bar which was very familiar. Turns out they brought me there because it is often frequented by Westerners. Figures haha.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We ordered cocktails. And then a plate of nachos turned up, which I assume they ordered for me, because none of them knew what they were or how to eat them which was hilarious. Probably like me and the chicken foot earlier on.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">An electric storm provided an unexpected backdrop for the rest of the evening. The skies opened and it poured; very impressive. I love thunderstorms.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="960" data-original-width="720" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBYtdVzYP3q4fGeCUgnEqDo9RZfket8aIouj2xTf3RYSRzlQp7WC2u07yidKSOEEEubRRAwJxKvXpsv9B5zjsrnEiIx7S8XPPeyMlDEMnfjX95vDQgV82IhViA2ZYtP2zh3DiQMjEs93mwlmT3u1erXgu6pgjmnuxZ_k6pN3ZMLKyZIO6CdeQIT0aEc-c/s320/IMG_20231110_225634_430.jpg" width="240" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">It's not totally unlike me to sleep for 16 hours but jetlag-induced slumber aside, the next day brought the disappointing news of a cancelled Bring Me The Horizon gig. I suppose this is the contrast I was talking about. The stage the night before had been structurally unsound so they had to pull he show.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">At this point I was in a bit of a daze with it all but my new friends came to the rescue. I headed out for a bubble tea and then met Rossi and another friend, Nasi at the Roller Skating rink. Perfect. I haven't posted much about it here but skating has taken over my life recently so I was pleased to get my fix after a few days away from my skates.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="1200" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk9LBvXpLNfjmqqoUJ5Vr3npF_B_mKqIOaDyxROY0qOWmWYemCdEhFBdtBTDlt8HVYMCuxD1rfsP1fe7qc9MTN9mH8AT-WLFJTerlFVBTfI9-1qd4DmK2hD3QGkMYP4oAviBuXKo7N4uhzyQ6OACiW_7Xp3ZbaWeNEkShbtuhqq-KgEUx_LPfPMCJhigo/s320/IMG_20231112_001316_455.jpg" width="256" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Unlike London rinks, it was two stories and decorated with neon lights and art installations. Nasi taught me a new trick and we had loads of fun sharing skills and practicing together. Skating has become my peace during all that's happened over the last couple of months and yet again, it made everything make sense.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1064" data-original-width="851" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibFwx8EvvesU4eAOy6eOd1AAJ8QFLWLzVWEZoVvC-Oo6wYa1ZMCbernfjfLuSUcyfH7sSrZHC7v5au_68T68fb800JwiJXCwSDDwQvUDUI07-agEooowIh9JR-08lmJ1kgHXZxjCY4AunM_gwXmF2GAlUx8EHixTht7eTRXX80IypcxS2xoKM09bC8ylU/s320/IMG_20231112_001316_388.jpg" width="256" /><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWidwaKlPvSECRWvykbcltbCeXN5eeAZsq4GhT3d5AfjZHqn6KL1yvsMYyyB4N0I46c__VOhXZzbLWlpmNPQ-TXzMhkHozIVX8-vZ1wkuGtUUGeWQ5KGr31RnhvbVzjWz8Kf1ZL9WE-xn9DrYdmR-G0ihBW68URaxUAW6WLj-d9B08bGPg08eEPc2n_DM/s320/20231111_165559.jpg" width="240" /></div><div style="text-align: left;">We went to the mall for dinner afterwards and then got in Tulus car for a nighttime tour of the city with a bag full of Indonesian desserts. It's even more chaotic in the dark.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">So I didn't get to see BMTH this time but what's another gig to a super fan - I'll see them when they're back in London, or maybe elsewhere, who knows! Instead, I left Jakarta with new friends, happy memories and a newfound appreciation of a city I previously had no interest in.</div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-827431319881752392023-08-17T08:23:00.003-07:002023-08-17T08:23:40.906-07:00The best acai bowls in LagosI went to Lagos last year and it didn’t really make an impact. It was a different type of trip for me, granted but I found it a bit unmemorable; so when my friends decided it was the location of our big girls trip, I wasn’t fussed.
<br /><br />
Having now spent some more time there, I feel like I connected with it a bit more and have a newfound appreciation for the place.
<br /><br />
Apart from the spiritual awakening it seemed to initiate within me, (don’t ask) I spent a lot of time away from the group, just wandering around taking it all in. Navigating the cute, cobbled streets in the sunshine and settling down at one of many brunch places with my headphones and an acai bowl. <div><br /></div><div>I’d say it has quite a Bali vibe to it in that respect and I think that’s why I felt quite so at home. Whilst the girls partied into the night and got up late, I was looking forward to getting up each morning to go and find breakfast - via the beach.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs4zaW5AXR9V-tfR_DBr__uQXgUqozmWsjUch_ZqaXD6k1p7FADoaDzKNTmwRy_O354OONlzBKMVWSObZx6Ru6L5Te-6kz4iYfsLI-Z8y83smeHiot7k-_odHLcH-kHIiVyNgijRqjFuCoLLEBhqZHT-6jwvpe3pt945zP7nkSFaIcRA9zjto2oqWYw8M/s1349/IMG_20230812_163610_410-01.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1349" data-original-width="1079" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs4zaW5AXR9V-tfR_DBr__uQXgUqozmWsjUch_ZqaXD6k1p7FADoaDzKNTmwRy_O354OONlzBKMVWSObZx6Ru6L5Te-6kz4iYfsLI-Z8y83smeHiot7k-_odHLcH-kHIiVyNgijRqjFuCoLLEBhqZHT-6jwvpe3pt945zP7nkSFaIcRA9zjto2oqWYw8M/s16000/IMG_20230812_163610_410-01.jpeg" /></a><br /><br />
Acai bowls are one of my favourite dishes and one of the few foodie things that London is not very good at. Lagos however had lots of options and here are my thoughts on the three I tried.<br /><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Coffee on Waves
</h3>Coffee and Waves is a very cute surfer café complete with boards, merch and just a few tables for two.
<br /><br />
My bowl here was perfectly presented, topped with peach slices, banana, berries, coconut, granola and some random pieces of sour grapefruit which I did not appreciate.
It cost €7.50 plus an additional €1 for the peanut butter – which kick started a new obsession.
<br /><br />
The acai itself was quite frozen which is preferable as sometimes bowls can be more like a smoothie and get a bit sloppy. This one held together well. The granola was very good, providing some crunch to break up the textures and the peanut butter, my new joy in life, was smooth and the perfect spooning consistency.</div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgar4vPCBrIdFUHgOS_RjBPqrjKfNQgz6eAOjmhw-rOIJp2PZBI1ZBqSgZ6tUA2hwp8T_cpE7zWqU_Pu8yv6wA-jPZxjqVxlY9z9q0dnpTs3on8JIGHNiWAzN32VMyjqXidDvainAcjw-gQMpRP43MeAuUQyA7fQiz0AsKcqE6gmppjCR38z5H4tApUn-I/s1492/IMG_20230813_104056_161.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1492" data-original-width="1193" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgar4vPCBrIdFUHgOS_RjBPqrjKfNQgz6eAOjmhw-rOIJp2PZBI1ZBqSgZ6tUA2hwp8T_cpE7zWqU_Pu8yv6wA-jPZxjqVxlY9z9q0dnpTs3on8JIGHNiWAzN32VMyjqXidDvainAcjw-gQMpRP43MeAuUQyA7fQiz0AsKcqE6gmppjCR38z5H4tApUn-I/s320/IMG_20230813_104056_161.jpg" width="256" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Goji Lounge
</h3>The girls wanted to go back to Goji after our first morning because it had a lovely outside terrace and they were all keen for more avo toast. I decided it was time to try the acai since I can get my avo fix in London.
<br /><br />
This one cost me €7.20 and wasn’t quite as good as the previous but it did the job. It was much looser which usually would have been an issue for me but actually, that came in quite useful. They didn’t have any granola so it was topped with oats which would have been quite dry had I not been able to mix them in. That being said, I still prefer granola. </div><div><br />
Of course there was the additional peanut butter which I very much enjoyed and some more variation on the toppings with strawberries, kiwis, chia seeds and passionfruit involved. </div><div><br /></div><div>Note: it’s cash only.
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLWB-ifvlI428DS6nDVZwbPLUkeTgqJ1mADp8vmZNlaQ2WNmSMNAsa5dMhsV87HqL--IpM3VAZJHw9h2_pL5x-rqxzNmng5DIAJb7zX-qUVoP2GzI4kbAfyN1FvbwgUmQguOO26rhenBHyDgWSfRDL3OW_agzIVodpBmRXnEsFUma2B_VnvWtKVxmO6Is/s4032/20230813_115716.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLWB-ifvlI428DS6nDVZwbPLUkeTgqJ1mADp8vmZNlaQ2WNmSMNAsa5dMhsV87HqL--IpM3VAZJHw9h2_pL5x-rqxzNmng5DIAJb7zX-qUVoP2GzI4kbAfyN1FvbwgUmQguOO26rhenBHyDgWSfRDL3OW_agzIVodpBmRXnEsFUma2B_VnvWtKVxmO6Is/s320/20230813_115716.jpg" width="240" /></a><br /><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Indigo</h3>The final location was pretty special plus the acai was great so probably my favourite all round experience.
<br /><br />It was our last morning and I headed out early in search of some serenity before the chaos of going home started. The street level tables were all full so I went up to the rooftop which was perfectly tranquil - I was the only one up there for a while so found myself a comfortable corner and sat under an umbrella, staring up at the clear blue skies until the girls arrived. We very much enjoyed the boho vibes with cushions, lots of wicker and fairy lights. </div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ1xu_fKXoBVSDp1ZHOpA7cjkW53veA7myWT_UJTIQrbQGZmDd-_aXn0GAJEinmJgEzLGPx3Kfi8KZ08Ka8oQ2DQFsrx6ZUKj_bqyl4B7WM4tYld8kfJ1se3YM8PnvCAHgfYJAnyZembWEtnAjClrOGuEBQ60e0QHiFfRxhZXz7Frv7WCpQW8ONogELa0/s4608/20230814_100945.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ1xu_fKXoBVSDp1ZHOpA7cjkW53veA7myWT_UJTIQrbQGZmDd-_aXn0GAJEinmJgEzLGPx3Kfi8KZ08Ka8oQ2DQFsrx6ZUKj_bqyl4B7WM4tYld8kfJ1se3YM8PnvCAHgfYJAnyZembWEtnAjClrOGuEBQ60e0QHiFfRxhZXz7Frv7WCpQW8ONogELa0/s320/20230814_100945.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div>I ordered a fresh OJ and their paradise bowl (€7.50) which came with the usual toppings, plus cacao (although this turned out to just be dark chocolate chips which threw me off) which was served in a coconut. Whether its discovering a new dish, chatting to owners about their brands or just hanging out with my friends, there's so much to see, I often don't manage to get around it all.</div><div><br /></div><div>Whilst it is an amazing event, it can end up becoming quite and expensive evening. That being said, there are lots of way to have an awesome time without spending a penny after entry. Here are my top tips from my past experience.</div><div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Be friendly to everyone</h3><div><br /></div><div>This is my biggest Taste tip and has afforded me most of my best Taste experiences. Last year we made friends with a group of guys whilst we were all doing a blind date challenge. Turned out there were all there on hospitality passes with work which meant we were able to hang out in (sneak into) the VIP tent with them. This meant free alcohol and a ready made bunch of new friends </div><div><br /></div><div>This time around, we stuck to just our group of girls for the evening but that didn’t mean I spent any more cash. I found it was as simple as just chatting to the staff before they asked if we wanted anything from the menu – most of the time, that they were charging other people for. </div><div><br /></div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="2268" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD0jzj_UKtwVYzI8oNdeXl8InRNsDjvVYET1CBIvGYxrbcnrnT33Wq_lWiSpwsROYTjH5N8TJf2Uy4vdk_gO45qp7ZolOo3Rq_eKMFlTbJP-WLX82-iHB07oCFxZxuueMahy5xXmGLDP7N9nJ7-EdhjqMIfU8nO-c2oeZKczY4niHB2SAxexOKCxPRpHQ/s320/PXL_20230617_190042982.PORTRAIT.jpg" width="180" /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Early ticket deals</h3><div><br /></div><div>Last year I managed to get us free tickets through the apartment complex where I was living at the time but we had such a good time that everyone was keen to buy tickets this time around. We went for the basic entry tickets but thanks to being signed up to the newsletter, I found out that if we bought them on a specific date, they came with a free glass of champagne upon entry; so we did that and it was a great way to kick off the evening. </div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvQeX4FPF4FP0cf6sjHM5rkG491lAW47eGMp9jPCbsRA5zCe4eLxLOUP9QgcjDtHm_3LdbB5gPSFTTLMdd1dJA_3RVWD8BP2OLZ1LKjH64CUD2M-CUjKMeVvG-9d1sI9BrYUjnmNl9mcq-Ds6Z6poKPb66PiFL0Z930dJ8GiTsgSLLNbdA4z60l9wnqss/s320/20230617_180054.jpg" width="240" /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Get there early</h3><div><br /></div><div>This was something I learnt the first time around (when I went with Georgia all those years ago.) Most of the sessions only last for 4 hours which sounds like a lot, but when you’re having fun, it fly’s by. We were there for almost the whole session and still didn’t get around any of the food stands. There's so much to see and do so make sure you get there early to make the most of your ticket. </div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTAXULRq_YjYEr5JXqvF6OVwX0BK-dpElaJsct975khSn4_jf5qXn7ITHv0f5VfTe6EcVUt-3iYJBBtb0Ded1cR7bf1799FIFNM1kguABI-brOA81dsdIFcFIxm73i4wkpCToAXa-yJPtYoA4At0Sq9RnUt-Vg5VhyMVPJ3eT3aEDUgHiBY7X-uDpVXpc/s320/IMG_20230626_110047_513.jpg" width="256" /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Enjoy the free samples</h3><div><br /></div><div>Most stands sample their product which meant we left at the end of the night, totally full, having eaten free samples all evening. We all loved The English cheesecake Company samples so much that we stood talking to the guys for a half an hour and they just gave us one sample after another until we all felt sick. </div><div><br /></div><div>I ate lots of cheese canapes from another stand but our biggest new discovery was the vanilla iced matcha lattes at Blank Street. They were handing out full sized, free samples and it turned out to be worth it from them because most of us have been out buying them every day since. </div><div><br /></div><div>As well as food samples, there is usually have something interactive to get involved with. We spun wheels at Mirabeau and won free wine.</div><div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="2560" data-original-width="2048" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnZcwU6w-za9WU-cbqRMCWcp_EOdcW27AX9ASVq7SlA2xOAthTJ52AbPBtp25aSkyvZjOY_Hvltgu_iaSB1WRJ3rGTX4Mh6sXWEHulktrbmy_1wZSSWaBTggA-H2dHMFP7DqlthvPiGACnclhGZ2PjoEIfe4Gq-iWjLcOfIrT3u5lLSsmsrBJ7FDcznXk/s320/IMG_20230619_101719_548.jpg" width="256" /></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;">If you're after something particular, just ask</h3></div><div><br /></div><div>It's literally just as simple as asking. We asked the team at Holy Moly for merch and the guy came back with free sunglasses and stickers. The guys at Bol gave me a weeks supply of free lunch because I said I'd be interested to try them all and I got speaking to someone who turned out to the a GM at STK, who gave me a load of coupons for free cocktails. </div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtQPNlMYjeX1PHVpaC3zBODq2bFmKciZxQLqzPRAnW48JjfD52GRgNIsBman_daiHjG2RT9Fl6qMlt8-ims61fzeXO5Q6VLiEa9j7cFQjY07XrqdjuvNVyHfNY0S1o3MCupn_XsKgUzb94AYyzCdagZnRWi-DMIkDdg3ocHdrQAnGPBpBBh7ByvhSlKSg/s320/IMG_20230620_082612_193.jpg" width="256" /></div><div><div><br /></div><div>Another amazing night in the bag. I came away on a high from having spoken to so many new and interesting people about brands they were passionate about. So in conclusion, maximizing your Taste London experience while staying within a budget is not only achievable but also incredibly rewarding. </div></div></div></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-22002266026861516762023-06-15T12:52:00.005-07:002023-06-15T12:54:33.301-07:00South West London's best Riverside pubs<p>One of my favourite things about living in Southwest London is the proximity to the river. For me, it's a 10 minute walk to the waterfront and during the summer, you'll find me there almost every day.</p><p>Whether it's a relaxing Saturday morning stroll, an afternoon cycle to Battersea park, or heading to a bar for a drink with my friends, being by the water makes me happy.</p><p>I've discovered some real gems along the way. Here are a few of the best riverside pubs I've come across in Southwest London:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwtcsrqhIPJqRPpOVaMnlGEoOi6Y20HEFREk44DBt-8JbjT_maf-VwkjPeWtwGSIId4mT0ZIIweUZKxKTV5EBDSXnn-i1nq5w-xzD3QfCT4vPwGPwn2xR9RFoFAjgONUnEyJDrqbPB0LwhwGJdwXFFnY4bOZEYtBG3BbZ1NKpgz__vVuk9AAdGOnh3/s4032/20230607_181147.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwtcsrqhIPJqRPpOVaMnlGEoOi6Y20HEFREk44DBt-8JbjT_maf-VwkjPeWtwGSIId4mT0ZIIweUZKxKTV5EBDSXnn-i1nq5w-xzD3QfCT4vPwGPwn2xR9RFoFAjgONUnEyJDrqbPB0LwhwGJdwXFFnY4bOZEYtBG3BbZ1NKpgz__vVuk9AAdGOnh3/s16000/20230607_181147.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj4wOX279X-GzTAdeM61wOJx67ed2ENvsmbjS-wjqSen-XCWf3VhxRTfpn6YMn91jf1_W83Y8xVgX1C7QOPqbwL6y8J6fR2zDbkzv7QsfxmBeEC55-dbYFxDKYeE6A7ysAzWQZgARwFjsxIG_kKtU1CYzid9OiBKa7PzscBHBWs7TOnuqJYGXs8aQG/s4608/20230607_181556.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj4wOX279X-GzTAdeM61wOJx67ed2ENvsmbjS-wjqSen-XCWf3VhxRTfpn6YMn91jf1_W83Y8xVgX1C7QOPqbwL6y8J6fR2zDbkzv7QsfxmBeEC55-dbYFxDKYeE6A7ysAzWQZgARwFjsxIG_kKtU1CYzid9OiBKa7PzscBHBWs7TOnuqJYGXs8aQG/s320/20230607_181556.jpg" width="240" /></a></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><h3 style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The Crown and Bell</h3><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Tucked away just about a meter from the Chiswick river bank, this one feels like a secret local spot, a hidden gem that I've only just discovered. This was a question I got asked over and over again - by friends at home, by people I met there and by strangers on the Internet.
<br /><br />
Before covid, I was booking flights and jumping on planes on my own at every opportunity. Solo travel in Southeast Asia is something that has changed my life not only in the experiences it has brought but also the confidence and trust in myself that I have gained from doing it.
<br /><br />
I’ve had a lot going on recently and in an (successful) attempt to disconnect from my daily routine and reflect on my life, I booked a week off. I had the choice of anywhere but I picked Thailand <b>because it makes me happy.
</b><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdeKQouUd9nSOqJgp42oBz-uUNwkpMoTQxc74WL1aNUKAxq0MhlzQXfJpz9RSRcyqiZhe5iRazIBkxxE4APMzhnMlRqJ2gJAbWjJV01G1iatFx4zvtq9xkuXmO_lV2P-oEmKhBDFIfBGV1peOFzuCN3EOrOnbwMYrWmQoZN4R3U7zMO7B32os1nVMV/s1440/IMG_20230503_142949_224.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1227" data-original-width="1440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdeKQouUd9nSOqJgp42oBz-uUNwkpMoTQxc74WL1aNUKAxq0MhlzQXfJpz9RSRcyqiZhe5iRazIBkxxE4APMzhnMlRqJ2gJAbWjJV01G1iatFx4zvtq9xkuXmO_lV2P-oEmKhBDFIfBGV1peOFzuCN3EOrOnbwMYrWmQoZN4R3U7zMO7B32os1nVMV/s16000/IMG_20230503_142949_224.jpg" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUCwrxai71by4m2f88nwpiqx12ITuEtOI4p1O5DUQP7JIEPJTBs9frs5tiKvL_TWGL3jhFdbIjUqyxF8BROMDt2Jl930S99wpJqhpKwddYBWw5LtiQ5pq_6CcYjJBI8LFHPF7hXH5l6d00B9ETRCyYiqKNx3JCOOhe3a15TYoKf3aQd3lNnPSSHOla/s4608/P5045980.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3456" data-original-width="4608" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUCwrxai71by4m2f88nwpiqx12ITuEtOI4p1O5DUQP7JIEPJTBs9frs5tiKvL_TWGL3jhFdbIjUqyxF8BROMDt2Jl930S99wpJqhpKwddYBWw5LtiQ5pq_6CcYjJBI8LFHPF7hXH5l6d00B9ETRCyYiqKNx3JCOOhe3a15TYoKf3aQd3lNnPSSHOla/s320/P5045980.JPG" width="320" /></a><br />
So regardless of only having a week spare, I was more than happy to sit on at 14-hour flight if it meant I could spend my holiday where I wanted to spend my holiday.<br /><br />
One of the main reasons why I decided to travel alone was to rest. I experience crazy fomo when I'm at home and can’t say no to anything, but being in Phuket, I was able to slow down. I spent hours lounging by the pool, reading, journalling, taking photos and swimming. All alone. And I loved every minute of it.
<br /><br />
And in the evening, I ate and I went to bed early. It was blissful; not only in the fact of having an early night but in that I wasn’t stressed that I should be doing something ‘fun’ instead.

Thai food was another highlight and one of the reasons I go back again and again. I eat at some of Londons best restaurants usually, but the food markets are my favourite thing in the world. There's nothing quite like watching a Pad See Ew being made fresh in the vibrant street markets, something I did multiply times a day. I was also able to satisfy my Thai tea addiction whilst I was there.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK52Z18ahGZYVzfNz8nc8EuMXED5olOfZ9z4u3obywaAyCc6nnBVpoHwpTNVhFZG8j6j6jmJCkUSTqouGM_8igAIdW3AzH3gXJRsiiZkxPx35rLGWMSVTzt3s2hoJFRpAXlUCgBYr5-7PlANHQSh7i0ogUS6NRJURlJFoNTfpvugSj17zAHQg90oQ-/s4032/20230502_191717.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK52Z18ahGZYVzfNz8nc8EuMXED5olOfZ9z4u3obywaAyCc6nnBVpoHwpTNVhFZG8j6j6jmJCkUSTqouGM_8igAIdW3AzH3gXJRsiiZkxPx35rLGWMSVTzt3s2hoJFRpAXlUCgBYr5-7PlANHQSh7i0ogUS6NRJURlJFoNTfpvugSj17zAHQg90oQ-/s320/20230502_191717.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3sHPEjxPnfmcx2r3e-OWueWqUwFjqn--W9VnzSdQr487p0s7uiNYbaQjEazchOyiifWb5ZYYSEqxi0ULb-ecP5kyOt15tm0yKj8-FKbgLbVGvL517SPMfWJqlCWbR5u9KOxzu4R0yIQuDme-MPtLU_Nw8blOUiR_Yph_N1CXlgJ_kMjeUoMfOMNzk/s4032/20230502_110432.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3sHPEjxPnfmcx2r3e-OWueWqUwFjqn--W9VnzSdQr487p0s7uiNYbaQjEazchOyiifWb5ZYYSEqxi0ULb-ecP5kyOt15tm0yKj8-FKbgLbVGvL517SPMfWJqlCWbR5u9KOxzu4R0yIQuDme-MPtLU_Nw8blOUiR_Yph_N1CXlgJ_kMjeUoMfOMNzk/s320/20230502_110432.jpg" width="240" /></a><br />
I also very much enjoyed the freedom to do exactly what I wanted, when I wanted. I woke up naturally at 6 am, so I got up and went for a walk, one morning I spent an hour throwing myself around on a surf machine and another, I journalled on the balcony. I ate when I got hungry and I went back to the same 5* hotel three times because I liked the spa there. I booked luxury transfers instead of buses and postponed a boat trip I had scheduled because I could. I didn't need to follow anyone else's itinerary but my own.<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4rw99ly5M9dzYOTwLdMX2HCFNb_M1ejSR66VPj0c8Dsmg_C2gIxkXJ9Bo7hhi6m34EPv3xvTJa9oiNK0g8SPKG4RW77puXLyjmvHY7eXi1Ktb_4ld_uvK-QtPFq00pq3fUqJ66k4WUVIzxnh-RLxOg14MO9EBrGt_Vo38_q1Ih6v7frmleM138Q1f/s4608/P5046048.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4rw99ly5M9dzYOTwLdMX2HCFNb_M1ejSR66VPj0c8Dsmg_C2gIxkXJ9Bo7hhi6m34EPv3xvTJa9oiNK0g8SPKG4RW77puXLyjmvHY7eXi1Ktb_4ld_uvK-QtPFq00pq3fUqJ66k4WUVIzxnh-RLxOg14MO9EBrGt_Vo38_q1Ih6v7frmleM138Q1f/s320/P5046048.JPG" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIcW69AbvX89g8hxwJxVvaVxZSExjHR8Py8ZqeZF_XbQzUepf8LSYlEFvi29khxDABiljqODPQr5EEi1XAAZB2Ql91wQTIQKG9t2zgkiPrmChUFmCQldhzEW01w6dbKjr185ZXe44f4QyJueNQdhyQG4aZPBIWN0h-uUcxRVPDGV0lxjnf1DKSPfOw/s1800/IMG_20230510_152842_817.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIcW69AbvX89g8hxwJxVvaVxZSExjHR8Py8ZqeZF_XbQzUepf8LSYlEFvi29khxDABiljqODPQr5EEi1XAAZB2Ql91wQTIQKG9t2zgkiPrmChUFmCQldhzEW01w6dbKjr185ZXe44f4QyJueNQdhyQG4aZPBIWN0h-uUcxRVPDGV0lxjnf1DKSPfOw/s320/IMG_20230510_152842_817.jpg" width="256" /></a><br />
Solo travel has always been a great way for me to feel good about myself and build trust in my abilities, and three years after my last solo trip, that was something I desperately needed.
<br /><br /><b>
It reminded me that I can do things alone and that I can be happy doing it.
</b><br /><br />
If you're considering traveling alone, I highly recommend it. It's a chance to gain clarity and perspective, try new things, and create unforgettable memories. <div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXZo6nWDIFnaJ34nNgEgsysY8k50SCRcKNGCAEr5c5K20YlS3HaBG6-ol6u2IHuP8Q9k_D1ymz8P_wRdMgMbobAtokC4jgPqV4SzV9wQBntABbIjVC5nLM9l0yqjh2jBEPZcKKBF_CdErF_zZLYqOZnRI3uZGJsaRiYvOFUUtkGvMdMXl3nFqzW2ee/s1800/IMG_20230509_074926_660.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><br /><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXZo6nWDIFnaJ34nNgEgsysY8k50SCRcKNGCAEr5c5K20YlS3HaBG6-ol6u2IHuP8Q9k_D1ymz8P_wRdMgMbobAtokC4jgPqV4SzV9wQBntABbIjVC5nLM9l0yqjh2jBEPZcKKBF_CdErF_zZLYqOZnRI3uZGJsaRiYvOFUUtkGvMdMXl3nFqzW2ee/s320/IMG_20230509_074926_660.jpg" width="256" /></a></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-47613303280762589242023-04-03T12:13:00.008-07:002023-06-15T12:58:43.324-07:00 Top tips for driving the Amalfi coast<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Sweeping views, mountain roads and picturesque towns perched on the cliffs. This becomes especially tiresome once you realise they insist on hooting every time they turn a corner. </div><div><br /></div><div>A convertible is a great choice as it adds to the fun and provides a great way to enjoy the warm weather. We found as you start getting into the towns like Positano, there were big car parks everywhere. They can be expensive if you stop off for a long time - we paid <span face="Roboto, Helvetica, sans-serif" style="background-color: white; color: #111111; font-size: 16px;">€</span>6 per hour - but it was money well spend to have the car local and safe whilst we explored. </div><div><br /></div><div>Don't forget to stop for refreshments. Lemon stands are a common sight and not only are they a great way to experience the local culture and cuisine, they also provide some incredible sightseeing opportunities. I love the gym, I do, but if I stick to the same workout for weeks on end, I often get bored so instead, I like to change it up. I will do everything from the classic gym workout and yoga classes, cycles, runs or even a little session with my kettlebell at home. Each activity requires a totally different outfit so in collaboration with Brooks Running, here, I'm going to run through what I like to wear for each.<div><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Running outside
</h3>Whether it's the treadmill or the street, running requires a <a href="https://protect-eu.mimecast.com/s/XKlHCrm1JCglERF74wQb?domain=brooksrunning.com/">high-impact sports bra</a> so I always start with that. Shoes are also important here, so I use proper running trainers as they are much gentler on my joints, particularly my knees. <br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-BE8QgtauWfmnhxAjXrIzfU7N8SUww9Q4gPqyX-_DPEKdbpb7qh6Nm_glpMWfx6kBU1f4U0MDxCjia6OgjR5epYcazWM26REuaxW0xEgQ7LNMGhSwXuqUTig5eooKX6_xygWlXpQQe3HqDuT77Y0rE_89w3tDQBjPnaLNT-C-LBEd_-AGRtdfzMy5/s1293/IMG_20220118_232319_042.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1293" data-original-width="1035" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg-BE8QgtauWfmnhxAjXrIzfU7N8SUww9Q4gPqyX-_DPEKdbpb7qh6Nm_glpMWfx6kBU1f4U0MDxCjia6OgjR5epYcazWM26REuaxW0xEgQ7LNMGhSwXuqUTig5eooKX6_xygWlXpQQe3HqDuT77Y0rE_89w3tDQBjPnaLNT-C-LBEd_-AGRtdfzMy5/s16000/IMG_20220118_232319_042.jpg" /></a><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h3><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Gym
</h3>My gym uniform involves as little material as possible because I hate getting sweaty so a pair of shorts and a sports bra is a combination that works perfectly for me. I love my Adidas running shorts and have the same pair in a few different colours which I wear on rotation - usually paired with converse or another flat soled shoe as they work best for lifting.
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipaNS1JTJsULTVYkwoo5AAR27W9XWl054fm0n-PXAc-a3PgIJxwLuv9dwe81WDzsmCoSDqwZs8HqJnWRJgi6uaoB-oU__2erFOcNwxP-o3pIaQWtkGotI5Jv63Ox9---tSg6VGNZ_8tvrEjOOP0eBIR9NC9U-kURPp6L5i8oSkj5QZdVsr5oN_yx0v/s3780/IMG_20221115_173711_567.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3780" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipaNS1JTJsULTVYkwoo5AAR27W9XWl054fm0n-PXAc-a3PgIJxwLuv9dwe81WDzsmCoSDqwZs8HqJnWRJgi6uaoB-oU__2erFOcNwxP-o3pIaQWtkGotI5Jv63Ox9---tSg6VGNZ_8tvrEjOOP0eBIR9NC9U-kURPp6L5i8oSkj5QZdVsr5oN_yx0v/s320/IMG_20221115_173711_567.jpg" width="256" /></a><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h3><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Yoga
</h3>Granted, I do my yoga at the gym but it is far different from my time there usually. I do yoga for my mind, more than I do for my body so it's about being as comfortable as possible. It's also one of the few times I will ever wear leggings to work out, for two reasons. Firstly, it's much slower and less cardiovascular so I get cold and secondly, loose and short shorts are less than preferable when waving my legs in the air.<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMffhCivnOJLic2R5fgU8kmEnPBTvXy2_SXVRqJD9lGmUrCS0yNcnOcdyN-TiG2arkNmbBVQfotJaAm98c9jZMAj-emNU8Wkqg3UpjF4XfqkCOY9WkPV3wEsEoHXG9CBF_hlC9vUgUftPHj6WjDOMlUHHqfjuJXNYVxHM7pOSaZCeMQ3BPKmVF_J9T/s1350/IMG_20221003_105400_423.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMffhCivnOJLic2R5fgU8kmEnPBTvXy2_SXVRqJD9lGmUrCS0yNcnOcdyN-TiG2arkNmbBVQfotJaAm98c9jZMAj-emNU8Wkqg3UpjF4XfqkCOY9WkPV3wEsEoHXG9CBF_hlC9vUgUftPHj6WjDOMlUHHqfjuJXNYVxHM7pOSaZCeMQ3BPKmVF_J9T/s320/IMG_20221003_105400_423.jpg" width="256" /></a>
<br /><h3 style="text-align: left;">Cycle</h3>I don't go on huge cycles anymore but I do enjoy cycling along the river on a sunny afternoon. This is another time I'll wear leggings, assuming it's not too warm outside, just because I'll get covered in mud otherwise. Along with that will be a big sweatshirt, which often comes off with a crop top underneath, and of course a helmet!
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdnYnUfVHTZgenQU6BNcOts-CQ9nW7z4LtDKJuSCie9tAkqYm9qM--DN8kUsZnhgiYiK3F2WR1liHfGbluKUreUQGIHec9peR3lERBaW9K9WzCJLBlD-9RdjH2eAQzws4Z8dZ9GtyXpa1GtfggZwkl9sFoK_5LefnsI4qmx7bYLc0cMk_rKCi5Z_HV/s1802/IMG_20220212_090910_221.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1802" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdnYnUfVHTZgenQU6BNcOts-CQ9nW7z4LtDKJuSCie9tAkqYm9qM--DN8kUsZnhgiYiK3F2WR1liHfGbluKUreUQGIHec9peR3lERBaW9K9WzCJLBlD-9RdjH2eAQzws4Z8dZ9GtyXpa1GtfggZwkl9sFoK_5LefnsI4qmx7bYLc0cMk_rKCi5Z_HV/s320/IMG_20220212_090910_221.jpg" width="256" /></a><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;"><br /></h3><h3 style="text-align: left;">
Home
</h3>Home workouts are my most frequent activity and most varied in what I wear. I have a kettlebell, so I often use that in front of the mirror when I don't want to go to the gym. I usually just grab whatever's nearby for these, so it varies. I do, however, make sure that I wear shoes for my home workouts as I find my shins always start to ache otherwise.</div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc3wuPWkkXibl2VTAzdUrRWofW1VXuZxQz6K1PlDkeXQxoDSQ-oM0KZ6z9bNqccVW-jur8vWzFnUyx78DSssrr-S8l50W9_vcx2CBmsbB6LbWsUmUuB_33YyAamZcP3O6BcnLnrDNC1l_DnL4Adt_QMFlD8nuRdAdzNeXubvrCcO0E-1FsmYag4wyn/s1350/IMG_20230128_113410_353.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1350" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc3wuPWkkXibl2VTAzdUrRWofW1VXuZxQz6K1PlDkeXQxoDSQ-oM0KZ6z9bNqccVW-jur8vWzFnUyx78DSssrr-S8l50W9_vcx2CBmsbB6LbWsUmUuB_33YyAamZcP3O6BcnLnrDNC1l_DnL4Adt_QMFlD8nuRdAdzNeXubvrCcO0E-1FsmYag4wyn/s320/IMG_20230128_113410_353.jpg" width="256" /></a></div></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-57460569916938489662022-12-20T07:25:00.005-08:002022-12-20T07:26:59.499-08:00Mont Orgueil Castle, Jersey. We went to Jersey for a lazy spa weekend but after my fill of massages, saunas and long boozy lunches, we decided to go for a little explore on our last afternoon. <div><br /></div><div>We soon found ourselves wandering around Mont Orgueil Castle. <div><br /></div><div>It was a cold and windy afternoon so I took my new coat with. It's the <a href="https://www.landsend.co.uk/Womens_Expedition_Down_Parka/pp/P_38060.html">Expedition Down Parker</a> from Land's end and I picked the black one with grey fur lining the hood. With sealed seams, rib knit inner storm cuffs, and down insulation, it did a great job at shutting all of the elements out, protecting me from the cold, the wind and the rain.</div><div><br /></div><div>We had a look around the old building and then grabbed a jersey cream cone to eat by the seaside. Bacchanalia, located just on the corner of Berekley Square and Mount Street is a Greek/Italian fusion restaurant and Richard Carings newest culinary venture.
<br /><br />I'm very glad to have been although in short, I'm not sure I'll be be in a rush go back the same way I have been with some of the other restaurants nearby.
<br /><br />
The restaurant design looked amazing in the photos, with huge sculptures and a Sistine Chapel-style ceiling but in reality, it seemed a little.. faker than I'd have hoped. I was also a bit sad that they weren't able to accommodate my request for a table on the main floor because 'there were lots of press coming in' who they needed those tables for.
<br /><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjXxXZbSbZZ7teuSgm-r8uwcyppoYdDNxJnX1QSqi2OfHbXlr4cBW7WF3EFduIOu8lJoNh0OPY3BmI0eoXYXIiz8euDXHIHibiJqyVAPGx2Anl6wavgYmCfwce_WEwtavM_PYjHwbGcDrEX3Db03pRtvUuYXtfcjO76ynKjonwkCB5i7z22gAVPg6Y/s320/IMG-20221125-WA0093.jpg" style="text-align: center;" width="240" /><br />
The bar downstairs was great, as was the atmosphere so we spent some time there before heading up to our table on the balcony floor which had a much quieter vibe. The design was strangely familiar to the set up at Annabel's, another of Carings places but the cocktails were very unique so I'd definitely come back for those.
<br /><br />
I ordered a MAENAD which was gin based with
raspberry and eucalyptus, and very rich and creamy thanks to the addition of white chocolate, Greek yoghurt & egg white. We also had to try the KARPOUZI just because of the description. Basically, sold to us as somewhere between and Aperol Spritz and a greek salad, this one was created with watermelon, and feta infused vodka.
<br /><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgssN0djd7Q6RfwGrjcq37yHF73C1lnGbKs-tKQr9cXgXuovQGdN2hhAgzLYWkzmmJh6yzYYTPDDei_-Bs4CfJo5AJ_Bwl_hMt10Lz2Ksl2wVCdOyRcMOqpjg-E_aOt5rgGgrcd0jaeOzPXe534j4S6gXv6kpt7oWt8ru6k9k_Ymo4ZNtEM9KI4Eau4/s320/IMG-20221125-WA0090.jpg" style="opacity: 1; text-align: center;" width="240" /><br />
Food and drinks were just a little bit more expensive than the other places which I think was a little unnecessary, but we did enjoy everything.<div><br /></div><div>When it came to food, we decided on a classic burrata, a steak tartare with a nduja twist and my favourite, unsurprisingly, was the octopus. I love octopus and this was I exception, paired with some Greek pulses. </div><div><br />On to the mains, we had a plate of pasta that whilst good - it's hard to go wrong with truffle - was pretty average and decided against a proper </div><div>main dish and dessert, unheard of for me. Nothing really took my fancy, apart from the tirimasu dessert, although I didn't fancy taking a £35 risk on that.<br /><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSyXbIIHtTZrz7FY37Pq-Rk1yWiSufq0-rhCas2whGrIBoqhcbYe4vlQF3SmTvOi_iX3Pf03KIo42IyUYylxYGmhdeL3ED0PxGyviPLlgvh4KIqcX5J5y8BMKjtQtgYV0zQlUfkiLxDekR9HqQMjk2VIlNNVcxqw9ZBB5IMFiKSDsSh_9XmsNLroit/s320/IMG-20221125-WA0067.jpg" style="text-align: center;" width="240" /><br />
So, in conclusion, I'd most definitely pop back for a drink. The sparkling bar, and the cocktail list impressed but in terms for the food I think it was just a little too expensive to get excited about again.</div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-42822585886278524962022-11-11T06:33:00.001-08:002022-11-11T06:33:10.001-08:00Going out in Femme Luxe
Femme Luxe recently gifted me some new outfits and here's where I wore them:<div><img border="0" data-original-height="1060" data-original-width="851" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwaFaQgmnbfuPe2YWgRvaA-7j0fBlGsJNnasFdlMu9xTU2J8G5ZN0hF7OKdji0Th8gmaEbRHe_XcC3RT0xx9nlp9exvvbPbAnkO6NXRFxGDsKPliB63GR5sm6f_3bpdbWiI80a0Dj8wX9NteirvI_9qUsCgVNWrEp97zzOrirmmfY6KcdGwETwZNOg/s16000/IMG_20221103_095315_069.jpg" style="text-align: center;" /><br /><div>I wore this square neck, <a href="https://femmeluxe.co.uk/red-square-neck-ruched-bodycon-mini-dress-gina?fo_c=2607&fo_k=6deceaf9abc72780bbe035dd25cedfdc&fo_s=gplauk&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqoibBhDUARIsAH2OpWhXBh5Mza2w7rUQcy-9S7De2aBVYlRzayfFVhtfHhGT4Pcc3LdO54UaAmvAEALw_wcB#207=310">red dress</a> on Halloween - paired with some devil horns and simple black heels. We were actually just going for dinner, rather than any big Halloween event so I thought it worked nicely as a subtle nod to the holiday.<div><br />
Food was at Coya; we had the tasting menu, which is full of my favourite dishes like some of the ceviche's and the chocolate orange churros. After that, we went for a wander in search of drinks and came across Bagatelle, which was absolutely buzzing on a Monday evening. You could see people dancing on the tables from the street so that’s where we ended up!</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzvxq1CM5aTkL7Mkcylke6YttxBB9lWjwWIy6YCT-4sMYbSRDacIrMO9BehmpgrtxV9ktCj52S172PfVyGlL01d5dtwSZmqouWoKt1aAzrXZAlfOC9cPw6SO4znw0AfcaO4WuwkXriXzyRxOnyrbCGPQkUfzfPtd_5fcfC_h2mNc8DLlInd7RLE8Yh/s320/20221031_180554.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBUBWtklA8ff3Z7cI-LZSFUauJBXZWZdzchDsnU0REmNBrm4s0AEKi60l2OucuN3LJ48XICb3r_cFYpl2NMPIjJY9H-mZKMiCfUpSklDGLNIO6TK2AsMyTWQgtzVMjXqTr2-LDx6lxPe32Us4GsvewKcmtpLSIBJ4-K0VD0eLfd8GTbm1g02zTEx-W/s320/IMG_20221101_181614_763.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIpufFeJEplo88Jtr3ixg4Lzv2saDkEvxk3zI34Bi2ZDzkKbWUo2e3-O3OBQi5fvuD5RRPwVtU0_JlPPR3VXKIIVOAfEvai9kPYvStEtBblr75XJk7mVvmeSJSV49q3mR-425CMnFPQRULEJfG27x6lZf7PWhW8_ok4h1mF2Rn5mroAJblH9-7MyoS/s320/IMG_20221101_181614_827.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div></div><div>
This <a href="https://femmeluxe.co.uk/one-shoulder-tops">one shouldered top</a> is one of the best things I’ve gotten from Femme Luxe. It’s a deep maroon colour so great for the winter months and it fits me perfectly. The single sleeve is made of a floaty, chiffon material which gives the piece great movement, and the length cuts off at just the right place. I wear it a lot, but recently, paired with high waisted, black, skinny years and boots, for a celebration dinner at Isabel, which meant delicious food and a more champagne that I'd like to admit.</div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1335" data-original-width="1079" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZnXETvqK45_7cJZUTkSMzAXPMAhgVl-9nZl4mYMqbAfhVilsy5CLNbUOVzdx-ktOWNBbFPQuaRetUzpjuS-eoowaCWmUabQ15qRZw4KZXEqE9ba9k23HHehhTY132BQvVDdqkl8x9M1HlnvlXmQ4N1p3XgTFW5dW7X7biaF-hESJ2P_7G4cqABM_f/s320/Screenshot_20221111-141748_Instagram.jpg" width="259" /></div><div><br />
After my fourth vaccine earlier this week, I took a nap and woke up with intense steak cravings, so we booked a table for STK that eve and I went for another Femme Luxe piece.<br /><br />
This ribbed bandeau top came as part of a <a href="https://femmeluxe.co.uk/co-ords?gclid=Cj0KCQiAgribBhDkARIsAASA5bsORb2j8k_lrp_KmtYa8ifgzUKFGpvKf6704un0W3bh5EBjSfn_FAcaAgedEALw_wcB">co-ord</a> with wide leg trousers - which also gets a lot of wear - but for a wintery evening out, I like to pair it again, with my black skinny jeans and converse for a more casual look.</div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1478" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij4KEfwRn_M8KrBXt6rTQ7dLo3V3tm1FSy9ISBMZ-iO5cFuIT44DKFGuew7O-nWVRQqiCuOC-O_BUxpGdgoEXisp9PMNwPsFgXZ9lZj4_HVcvA7938aE9hKgxrcP5MMwz4t8pMFqpUBWLDbsji4Ww1O5Eo6_HMVkZ9mSq5AZxh_PgdXzmjk_p9NSPF/s320/IMG_20221102_081427_419.jpg" width="234" /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2944" data-original-width="2208" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgw65yIuJM9vbmQPUVjwxK3-JEJgIaZ8-3FWfAFbvwbmPkPr-C0t2bz5hI87q9U-2eSQvh5kxBONrMA1lt9tFfv0MKSgiW3oDGsDYlTHtaocpatBkd8WFR2XyZpPYR_YsiHm3Gj6q6IiTLGPj2RMU3qwIcAgFSwje-GojiKkrDnuu6hFoiOOOL8JVMS/s320/20221101_185602.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">*Gifted clothes.</div><div><p></p></div></div></div></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-26111018462501212742022-10-24T07:56:00.004-07:002022-10-24T08:02:20.100-07:00Terrarium masterclass at The Botanical Boys<p>I like to keep my Sundays for wholesome activities. Usually it'll be a gym day, or a roast but the past couple of weeks have been filled with fun new activities.</p>
My most recent Sunday involved a rainy train ride to King's Cross to do a terrarium workshop with the Botanical Boys and I just had to mention it, what an awesome way to spend the morning.

In between family, work and other bits and pieces I had three big days out with the girls.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The first came on the weekend before the big day. With not a clue what to expect I can now confirm there's a cute little old town, lots of great beaches and some v good restaurants.
<br /><br />
As per usual when it comes to travel, I ate and drank rather a lot. I planned my days around it in fact - beaches, walks and pool time slotted in between food and cocktails very few hours!<div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1802" data-original-width="1440" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlnXpGQwoP8l31Z6JvdcbfFC_JjmjlwZiAkfWLZMWwMBg9wlQm6Gwps5ifbpFIqyaxGsyqmamj-eHSSoZwbatj9epQVR2586SRPe47zSQRbrq0zrpEA4aEGVAVgt99wZq0pPZS9X_E6EGso89nTd8xYvbajef0EMmL_yPuKgEmBs6dvU6R4Hw-bncq/s16000/289260803_10166306097325234_4372703036962223146_n.jpg" /></div><div>Here were my favourite stops.</div><div><br /><div><h3 style="text-align: left;">Campimar Beach Restaurant </h3></div><div><br /></div><div>This place was just a little beach side restaurant but was probably my favourite in terms of food and drink - plus its always nice to walk, off of the beach straight into a restaurant still in your bikini. </div><div><br /></div><div>We went for lunch and I had the sea bass. I love a whole fish when I'm in holiday so I ate quite a lot of sea bass on this trip but this was my favourite one. Super fresh and prepared particularly well - it had the most delicious, crunchy skin.</div><div><br />
They also had a great selection of frozen cocktails which we bought multiple of and took down to the beach!

ORTA by Casa Mae
</h3><div><br /></div>We headed here on the first night, practically as we got off the plane. In hindsight, we shouldn't have rushed straight there because we were exhausted and couldn't enjoy it to its full potential because it was very nice. Located in the hotel, the set up and atmosphere here is really lovely, somewhere a little bit more romantic and dressed up.
<br /><br />
In a sleepy haze, I started with the ceviche and avocado puree, followed by an octopus dish. Both very well presented and both delicious!</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-YO-a8J6KsL0qBdK_Hk5u7KhtCmo8a_T_DRPd9pclHVFzHDzfQhLsOrZkFkqenm7RJ5XxEe5TEomrp8Rg_3kCsPdhlQ8nMJjz6559V-d8qKYM6cKttRMNDRdE3lUjzkqHx-sHM4aUwhYOXp9XnDYfTIh9PaLaCPAGWat2-ppWlM_zYnDwASBTlt2H/s320/thumbnail_20220612_211004.jpg" width="240" /><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilYzj5N_iGtNVgpQoRVZLvPDbUkH6p3Rd_EUIzLs4qfBTSkoHoehHfKebGOuD3W_fqZcVeK7pGJnRG5EuScVSYydGPXTaRBByh3qGQeWK2XLXSeTzNbaBfCNLKUBPvoaEBjFENB47gU7Y0g3Gjj-4f_dVRI2LRHntKp_SA3MhoNpAAmKTR_ZBbac5r/s320/thumbnail_20220612_214846.jpg" style="text-align: left;" width="240" /></div></div><div><br /><h3 style="text-align: left;">
The Garden</h3><div><br /></div>The Garden is really quite unique and very unexpected, I was caught totally off guard as we arrived. Its located on a normal road, right in the centre of town, and then all of a sudden, you turn a corner and see a little garden entrance.</div><div><br /></div><div>The restaurant is an amazing South African braai style, open air dining venue. Perfect for the warm evenings in The Algarve.</div><div><br />I went for the mixed plate because I wanted to try as much as possible. This included their 'customer favourite ribs,' - very good - as well as a sausage and some pork. The plate came with coleslaw, new potatoes and a drink. Firstly, I wanted to write about it - that's what I enjoy doing and what this website is for; but then it hit me that there wasn't a whole lot to write about. I wasn't on this trip as a blogger, I was on holiday with my friends. <div><br /><div>So I wont be recommending the best things to do in Menorca (you can read about that from <a href="https://www.georginadoes.co.uk/2017/07/think-menorca-is-boring-think-again.html">the last time I went</a>), because we spent most of our time getting drunk and taking selfies but regardless of that, I'm going to share the photos because, well, because we had an awesome time!</div><div><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I ordered a medium so it's oversized and it just hangs which is just the look I was going for. It's a waterproof, anorak style jacket with zippable pockets - which is obviously an essential and it's just thick enough to provide some warmth without being heavy or clunky. </div><div><br /></div><div>Plus it's so Tommy Hilfiger and I'm a big fan of the brand.</div><div><br /></div><div>Whilst I do have some festival tickets for later in the summer, I thought I'd take it out for a spin on this Sunday just gone.
Paired with my Adidas short shorts and a matching Tommy Hilfiger bralette for a bit of a sports luxe look.
Accessorised with flip flops and prescription sunglasses, it was the perfect outfit for a hungover afternoon at the park.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMVGs9x8ERvTPC0-dN6GchqQ8po4ntAcf7ziPnmLVLeuVyR6O_P2bh33TxoQdmiolz6GJZadsRmdyhiu0C1krQDykR4v3TOcowFQ3tYSxSY00izHWZZG0Zk7Xj3ADaC_bdLxROdR0nr0UrHtAyU0gT2jUHTnC4wO2YBrB-hmZNrF5x7DRRJp2eUxNL/s1280/thumbnail_20220522_134243-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMVGs9x8ERvTPC0-dN6GchqQ8po4ntAcf7ziPnmLVLeuVyR6O_P2bh33TxoQdmiolz6GJZadsRmdyhiu0C1krQDykR4v3TOcowFQ3tYSxSY00izHWZZG0Zk7Xj3ADaC_bdLxROdR0nr0UrHtAyU0gT2jUHTnC4wO2YBrB-hmZNrF5x7DRRJp2eUxNL/s16000/thumbnail_20220522_134243-01.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUa_1o84USyikNdHNuY-Tz0FLuH9JAVX7MrtRJ3W_JhaWFVQSFg2K0QfufO1QvsMG4QzLKqB6mB1Dk7tAwqSZZ2NSFoyBDLVlEQxspsDS8WLlBxY6L3bsRU3OFeTCVyrPHoPBPj7Jtfb9-qiQ-OQRyj9Jb8YPPtu5KbkCkrVgyvZ2hzJib9KLcBj3/s1280/thumbnail_20220522_134316-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1280" data-original-width="960" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQUa_1o84USyikNdHNuY-Tz0FLuH9JAVX7MrtRJ3W_JhaWFVQSFg2K0QfufO1QvsMG4QzLKqB6mB1Dk7tAwqSZZ2NSFoyBDLVlEQxspsDS8WLlBxY6L3bsRU3OFeTCVyrPHoPBPj7Jtfb9-qiQ-OQRyj9Jb8YPPtu5KbkCkrVgyvZ2hzJib9KLcBj3/s320/thumbnail_20220522_134316-01.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimxxcqrt6JOCclN_icl1In64g6mds0NG0W-KUp8yz8BjIpeIAm2aa3QD6HHUFXV-Q_rBT0Hd2jqFDrSsu3x3CmTUc6pvTIIZCc2JhcEqxRLslPpRzjw8AFlkQxWrONru_t_RfCoBDsvrv7ABlN8XJkWQR1LO89Irtdl9IeXgwoaVIM6KDgG_D1QwVO/s3648/20220522_151339.jpg" style="display: inline; padding: 1em 0px; text-align: left;"><img alt="" border="0" data-original-height="3648" data-original-width="2736" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimxxcqrt6JOCclN_icl1In64g6mds0NG0W-KUp8yz8BjIpeIAm2aa3QD6HHUFXV-Q_rBT0Hd2jqFDrSsu3x3CmTUc6pvTIIZCc2JhcEqxRLslPpRzjw8AFlkQxWrONru_t_RfCoBDsvrv7ABlN8XJkWQR1LO89Irtdl9IeXgwoaVIM6KDgG_D1QwVO/s320/20220522_151339.jpg" /></a></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both;"><div style="text-align: right;">*Gifted Product.</div></div></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-79700288232615270002022-03-31T07:03:00.001-07:002022-03-31T07:03:30.365-07:00Best hot chocolates in london<p>I'd say I love hot chocolate as much as the next person but actually, I don't - not the typical coffee shop hot chocolates anyway, you know the ones that taste like milk and powder. Absolutely not.</p><p>As such, I am always on the lookout for hot chocolates that are thick and delicious, ones that look like brownie batter or melted chocolate, something that someone has actually put some effort into creating, not just an extra for kids put on a coffee shop menu.</p>Lucky for me, I live in London and the hot chocolate scene here seems to be blowing up at the moment. I'm yet to find anywhere that serves a cup of melted chocolate (apart from Cadbury's World) but I am finding some gems on my search! <div><br /><div><h3>Knoops - The Reliable one.</h3><br />Knoops is very understated, for all anyone else knows, I could be drinking a cup of coffee, but inside my very plain looking coffee cup is probably the most delicious hot chocolate of them all.</div><div><br /></div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg3e6AlCOLotpkh1LXZhjF53SmrgXy_aWhUtX3e6_qBOzPKKW9Zl5uge18hjtW8vzT07AAmUrV5OO-UuFm5I13DuBc6B7O0H0mrLw5d8dp0k-TsGDWJ4mPOdlgOALi1AHz9UKLfH2K6Xos/s16000/20210403_160449.jpg" /></div><div>With shops all over London (and beyond) my first visit to the store was overwhelming to say the least, the whole back wall is covered in numbers which makes choosing the right chocolate percentage rather confusing. I was v scared of making a wrong choice but having asked the barista for some advice, I picked the 34% that day and haven't looked back since.<br /><br />I have, however experimented with the 34. I discovered that you can also have it cold, as an iced drink or a milkshake. Whilst their flavour of the month happened to be a 34 with sea salt, my first sip of that combination as a thick, creamy milkshake, was one of these weird moments when the world around you stops for a few seconds. It was amazing. <br /><br />Download the app and get your first drink free.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicIqNAC1OhBUakEDpRgd__10tAE1Hxyd4zlTyPAb7S4Er8IK3LZBMpIvgEUvtqOhK0f3KPmZ5x3y3vG4LDb0QRjfTbdU8f9SDN87a0wOJRgT0LjFADumPjBXhZmylF3Yca7DIG3L2AseI/s2048/20210430_170625.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1152" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicIqNAC1OhBUakEDpRgd__10tAE1Hxyd4zlTyPAb7S4Er8IK3LZBMpIvgEUvtqOhK0f3KPmZ5x3y3vG4LDb0QRjfTbdU8f9SDN87a0wOJRgT0LjFADumPjBXhZmylF3Yca7DIG3L2AseI/s320/20210430_170625.jpg" /></a></div><div><h3><br />Chin chin - The Decadent one.</h3><br />It's not often I am outdone by something sugary (it probably didn't help that I bought one of their burnt banana ice cream cakes as well) but I didn't get very far through this one the first time and I shared one with my mum the second! It's super decadent, thick and rich but just a little bit bitter for my liking, like it had been made with darker chocolate. </div><div><br /></div><div>Also very impressive looking with a huge scoop of torched marshmallow on top. I often find the marshmallow to be more style than substance but this comes from a dessert parlour so the guys actually know what they're doing and yes, it was delicious.</div><div><br /></div><div>Found at: Soho & Camden Market.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ajJd79pUwg-GDf-FV5HHtxCtfT6up8_yVM-4TjxmQl3Q4fQkWMc-5brBsCCLt6-JiO2e8QOfcZkSWGRFtFKqXfwuVWdKgSg0l600WNLOd3PTGGcWndAqkWYtTxwy_3ZLR-sJ_j_b9q8/s2048/20210405_141012.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ajJd79pUwg-GDf-FV5HHtxCtfT6up8_yVM-4TjxmQl3Q4fQkWMc-5brBsCCLt6-JiO2e8QOfcZkSWGRFtFKqXfwuVWdKgSg0l600WNLOd3PTGGcWndAqkWYtTxwy_3ZLR-sJ_j_b9q8/s320/20210405_141012.jpg" /></a></div><h3><br />Appleblue Patisserie - The Milky one.</h3><div><br /></div>This marshmallow was not a vibe with this one, but the chocolate covered lip of the cup? They're on to a winner with that. </div><div><br /></div><div>The drink itself was on the thin side but very nice and still v rich. At first, I was unsure whether it was just a cup of melted chocolate or whether there was anything more, sadly the menu confirmed it was the latter. </div><div><br /></div><div>That being said, when it turned up and I couldn't tell where to melted chocolate ended and the hot drink started so I was very pleased with this one.</div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiilf1yrevZ4EUt5O9Rf3crZ4MlcxS6ptwKUzh3eY7D444iEeEiqFnAhV55_CWUd9hXsogRGuxxf8NZm8VSlGIoaDk9sYwLHg1gajSJSyW8N6CzPSLyAO5sfJriPdQpAZJEAvPtuMLBLF8/s2048/20210427_183729.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1152" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiilf1yrevZ4EUt5O9Rf3crZ4MlcxS6ptwKUzh3eY7D444iEeEiqFnAhV55_CWUd9hXsogRGuxxf8NZm8VSlGIoaDk9sYwLHg1gajSJSyW8N6CzPSLyAO5sfJriPdQpAZJEAvPtuMLBLF8/s320/20210427_183729.jpg" /></a><br /><h3><br /></h3><h3>Dark Sugars - The Artisan One.</h3><div><br /></div>Dark sugars is a handmade chocolate shops with outlets in Brick Lane and Greenwich. Turns out, this little town isn't quite as unknown as I originally thought; not only did it host the 1994 winter Olympics but there's a whole Netflix series named after it. </div><div><br /></div><div>We stayed in Hafjell, which is a village and a ski resort in Lillehammer and it was the most amazing experience. Our four-night stay became quite the magical trip.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEikyNkW6KxhGx8mvUZcWhcdP9Aknos3yk2rpVr3tpjeuHYvCjTn29m3C8Km_jcliw_AzKgZusnbb7owRRPYVo1TqkMH4DYQxwN9s4ktu-h9Zni_gBNV4j8PIWarJiiBQS5pXJVNEeK48iit2XBtFVeBSjWXa6eAxjeZnUK5KhWIYru3_lYREGRfipYG=s16000" /></div><img border="0" data-original-height="4608" data-original-width="3456" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhwW0E0FR1rITurzItatVafCeRo-JAiaIuP1fRcwRv6x2K0lkiFamHJbEk507Ov7vJJhUUKoBF9vwJxEJHBMIThygsw8kLJv2wDkuJpvWA3jam5vI-gn27yJbfXjO4a53nfQ1gbNzxUhSGHbKtnXAMGmhE7NHKeztALeAu5AIVu1CaCz4NT7vAxJRmx=w480-h640" width="480" /></div></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;"><u>Getting to Hafjell</u></h3><div><br /></div><div>Hafjell is a 15-minute drive from Lillehammer station, or two and a half hours from Oslo. I'd recommend hiring a car like we did because taxis are very expensive in Norway and it wasn't an easy place to walk around. </div><div><br /></div><div>From Oslo, it
was an easy ride and a beautiful route, sprinkled with snow. We even took a couple of accidental, on purpose wrong turns to explore the countryside!</div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjhwpen0xA3mkSeZx_aSmQ59Nn1xAYcc-uD16UEiZoTYBFFcMOBXxsnCFhVwVttBfZZFkcw-Ykf6_EdnJOh3P0-qhHcp4ZyylhtTDkX-F3Q0hzzAm7z2ILbBPaDvKxZ1CimvhE4XXm7W4YGwrO1nJfCyhBw6Y3qbvJZ-S0-z6_r-RGftiK-j3xjZ6k-=s320" width="240" /></div></div><div><br /></div><h3 style="text-align: left;"><u>Where to stay</u></h3><div><br /></div><div>We, along with the rest of the wedding party, stayed at Nermo. It had won yearly awards for best ski resort hotel so we had high hopes. </div><div><br /></div><div><div>Our deluxe room was dark and woody with an alpine vibe and a modern bathroom. His podcast, Diary of a CEO is often Spotifys most popular and is the reason I'm excited to get up on a Monday morning. Along with his guests, it motivates me to think long and hard about different parts of my life each week which is something I wouldn't be doing otherwise. </p><p>I've enjoyed seeing him go from strength to strength with releasing his book to the calebre of guests he now has on the show. I was excited when he told us he was joining Dragons den and even more so when he announced that he was taking diary of a CEO live. </p><p>I had no idea what to expect from a live podcast but I didn't care, I was going to get a ticket either way<img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDStgHb7YOmgFwdk8j3BogXLV4Q1ODRBsS5BpDBZ7iYzDv4VoCj-xnhfTAS-1rKJQXNGphYFT4TJymHb37SPNGrVsqo7ahW-sBBzZS_vmf-Q17EYEvj6LXjJiDCbL975P_tbDFnmssiJ4bfnIuIwAMngfebRGBmTNyrz18DVMV5a9RtvD5vnIr7Q4g=s16000" /></p><br /><p><br /></p><p>Since I was on my own, arriving an hour early wasnt a probelm, I stood outside the theatre and watched as the crowd grew and saw a couple of celebrities arrive before heading inside at 6.45pm. </p><p>We were asked to stay in the bar area for almost an hour which was not the most comfortable or covid friendly environment but fine.</p><p>Having lost a little enthusiasm by the time it started, the show opened with an unkown artist, playing his very depressing, unknown music which I thought was a really odd choice. Along with the fact the show started half an hour late, I was almost in a bad mood by the time we actually got to the main act. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiTxi3dttX2EFGEKxHHISH9AYQWxzvR4sDRFjEuDkiJY_NnXMw2ZFljYi4MUvF7pdIDvS4UxRaUmZBO69z-50lYWhCjeerGjHRJJ9yrnRCbtVJfAo2hzC1lm7rd7hxXlC_ClbPGGUtEBvCvrMrEeZu8aTjwwHACvJtZhb17ik2DjztrfffvucC9Ejel=s4032" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiTxi3dttX2EFGEKxHHISH9AYQWxzvR4sDRFjEuDkiJY_NnXMw2ZFljYi4MUvF7pdIDvS4UxRaUmZBO69z-50lYWhCjeerGjHRJJ9yrnRCbtVJfAo2hzC1lm7rd7hxXlC_ClbPGGUtEBvCvrMrEeZu8aTjwwHACvJtZhb17ik2DjztrfffvucC9Ejel=s320" width="240" /></a></div><p>The show follows as Steven recounts his life with singing intervals from the choir every few minutes - but if like me, you've read his book or listened to his podcast, you already know almost all of what he said.</p><p>The show seems to be aimed at fans of dragons den wanting to know more about their newest recruit, not fans of Stevens. I had already heard everything he said during the first half. </p><p>Admittedly the 2nd half was better. He told us the story of how he met his girlfriend and how their relationship progressed, something he hasn't covered before and a really lovely story. </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhDMFjHttDIbIlC0FP8-lhHigqpxEMmfI-fVblbg7fPhxRrgpPlI8ySJu2TxYYTXA4kaHGTexj_y3vpxMUamzi-LTF5YHsRrx-yym7rMKbg5qVnSinUOamGtjyLVHao5QDjR5UB2c_EdIJA3ozeIc8CD_RtO4gIjgyQz2xufrh5Vvn1TO_gf0U1KPnd=s4032" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhDMFjHttDIbIlC0FP8-lhHigqpxEMmfI-fVblbg7fPhxRrgpPlI8ySJu2TxYYTXA4kaHGTexj_y3vpxMUamzi-LTF5YHsRrx-yym7rMKbg5qVnSinUOamGtjyLVHao5QDjR5UB2c_EdIJA3ozeIc8CD_RtO4gIjgyQz2xufrh5Vvn1TO_gf0U1KPnd=s320" width="240" /></a></div><p>Although I zipped away as soon as he stopped talking. The night already had far too many songs from the choir and I didnt fancy staying for another one. I guess I wish there was a little more content and a little less singing. </p><p>Regardless of the fact it felt slightly like a wasted evening, I will continue to follow Stevens journey and look forward to whatever he has in store next, hopefully something a little more insightful. </p><div><br /></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com28tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-79649459062333466412021-11-29T06:48:00.002-08:002022-03-10T01:00:13.367-08:00Opium's dim sum & cocktails 9th birthday masterclassThis week on my quest for quirky restaurants and unique experiences in London, I came across Opium and their birthday celebrations in Chinatown.<div><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_DEY5PEgEd_1Ux7uaeHR9Sns5MYbwRa1yG6P6eEASi-CdBJC6bq7yzpMfV0WEFK-mMQnYO1pKmseN_k0tEswUmEW307QXkkkpFF_JW8XZ19pe8F3KMCH83TBjfefkvPRWbiIZEysEQXE/s16000/IMG-20211118-WA0063.jpg" /></div><div>From the street, all you see of Opium is an inconspicuous entrance leading up to an extremely dark stairwell but at the top, the noise and heavy atmosphere hit me as soon as opened the door. Lit up with lanterns and packed with people, it was dark, hidden, busy; a tiny little place that felt kind of exclusive, like a secret.</div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="2000" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOhn8J5C15VjeKmz0-_L31awoUN2156VgbNd27dMCK7p16dicDaYIBwd3G37Vo18goyG-pVcDjJwIb3zn4h8ksNYZ11BakhAtYJgaME9PRSh83cIP-d2AgOTD3gSxoXBbAUVhD6xcR_8M/s320/IMG-20211118-WA0089.jpg" width="320" /></div><div>Having arrived early, we had time for a quick drink before being ushered down some stairs into a secret bar which was where the event took place. Having flicked through the menu, I knew this place was going to be good. Each cocktail was totally unique and the ones we ordered with delicious. </div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIMpILe8czNvMSJzS1rFtqUlE5-YlpjtHpAuuVoqbGCauI9w78Q3MQuNr3o4yO7fkrIvFBLv8uaeSLgjuWys0kmcofAjXlW7ePC6G81Ly26PKe99uXrnjWwZq7o1divIjXrSPYXbgALtw/s320/IMG-20211118-WA0123.jpg" width="240" /><br /><div>There were about 20 people in total, in the secret little bar. Designed to feel like an old school Chinese drinking den it was the perfect venue to host what really was, an awesome evening.</div><div><br /></div><div>The time flew by as we made our way through three classic cocktails and then their take on each one; paired with some dim sum.</div><div><br /></div>Starting simple with a G&T; their take came mixed with pineapple & cucumber wine. It took away all the usual bitterness of gin and was the first time I've enjoyed it. This light and fruity drink came with a basket of king prawn dumplings which we made our way though whilst listening to an explanation on how gin and tonics got paired. That sort of stuff is always interesting. </div><div><br /></div><div>
Next was a Mai Tai. We tried the classic and then watched Chef Jeremy make their version whilst he told us about its origin. With the addition of toasted cumin, this drink was absolutely something else, the smell alone took you to somewhere else. Mango cordial gave it an added fruity zing added so much to the original cocktail. We drank those with spicy duck dumplings.</div><div><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="2000" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQgebNZHAhSXECICqQLS-EA-eQJtmAF-4gjg-7ioUL3Sh3sMPYBkyhwi-SGBaKX7CEzyySymQhwhD3c1XJwx-GRgAmGA5j7rnDv7lxVoyqH_OlrOt_ntA8XuOc8gueVkrwp50ZHB3_m_Y/s320/IMG-20211118-WA0115.jpg" width="320" /><br />
Last was an old fashioned which I didn't like. Whiskey is, just not for me, although, this heavy drink came alongside some Cantonese BBQ pork buns and those were delicious. We actually stayed and ordered some more after the event came to an end - along with some more food and drinks - and would have continued to do so for a few hours had the kitchen not shut.</div><div><br />
So yes, a very good evening. Sadly, the event was a one time thing, but if what we ate and drank was anything to go by, then I'll be very keen to head back as soon as I get the chance.<br /><img border="0" data-original-height="2000" data-original-width="1500" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5cx6K_ysRAdZW6yRPl_OBi4x3f582b7I02VZd4YXyEihsojm_qzkhl32iJghGX-9iKwszpTW8A68-A6QIYZhzawTwX5jT8BCYEyzUAC-qwO1S6RDmA03-E1La9T9OPLtpyzzdC3FMTd8/s320/IMG-20211118-WA0122.jpg" width="240" /><br />It was mid November so acceptable time to get my first sparkly top of the season out which was very exciting. I paired it with black jeans, leather boots and some new jewellery which I've been gifted via <a href="www.daisyjewellery.com/collections/estee-lalonde ">Estee Lalonde</a> at <a href=": www.daisyjewellery.com/">Daisy London</a>. I haven't worn a necklace, or a bracelet for that matter, for years but I did like the way these pieces looked - a simple chain can add so much to an outfit. </div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2wQrXmtZwM0xO68bpAH4B6lwmVjPPWe76MX40CeHeWYSuqV8Tn9TyKjuv8JSiwnvuC51XS_thHMhu8F6iDQPhHYb3AVO1WUSrJPWL4EI6H_q_8sQDxHLQuItlNitZSrhDxPGPWgb-UJ8/s2048/20211117_190550.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2wQrXmtZwM0xO68bpAH4B6lwmVjPPWe76MX40CeHeWYSuqV8Tn9TyKjuv8JSiwnvuC51XS_thHMhu8F6iDQPhHYb3AVO1WUSrJPWL4EI6H_q_8sQDxHLQuItlNitZSrhDxPGPWgb-UJ8/s320/20211117_190550.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC472JhfgJoXRJTB41-Ue9CPQPuCc1Klq8OvR7WcK8yrI9to4mq__R3zfubV6FbfwANqFLectxOHMoXZYb6lZgAxEhFzWnYSnIwojs6BG90FqLcsBl47V14UL-GfzqMsK2YlHzJ5LFiqg/s2048/20211117_191004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiC472JhfgJoXRJTB41-Ue9CPQPuCc1Klq8OvR7WcK8yrI9to4mq__R3zfubV6FbfwANqFLectxOHMoXZYb6lZgAxEhFzWnYSnIwojs6BG90FqLcsBl47V14UL-GfzqMsK2YlHzJ5LFiqg/s320/20211117_191004.jpg" width="240" /><br /></a><br /></div></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com16tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-47420099629014015072021-11-22T07:42:00.001-08:002022-05-20T11:59:59.589-07:005 unique places to drink cocktails in Mykonos<p style="text-align: left;">Cocktails are an important part of any proper holiday - they are for me at least.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I started writing this post laid up by the pool with two frozen cocktails next to me (not quite sure how that happened - my boyfriend has a habit of over ordering) and although pre-lunch drinking isn't a normal occurrence for me, late afternoon and evening holiday cocktails are.</p><p style="text-align: left;">Mykonos is extremely expensive and getting anything apart from beer or wine, sub €15 seems to be a rarity. Don't worry, I did find some - getting through as many cocktails as we did we were sure to find a couple - and whilst I have mentioned them, this list is more about getting the best experience for your money.</p><img border="0" data-original-height="1500" data-original-width="1200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXiuTKjpS3g7FukTwNFNCusvO8QJJNIEuRQM2LVKoD1_suNs0MMB2-YSE28CbBJeV_oAll-aFpEgW5atuo00WSkEvX5mhrXFLvToUCXBECMzJs_3xsFmI2AgCtyEO2OSyvJUipwfXq5Gc/s16000/IMG_20210819_104130_300.jpg" /><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><h4 style="text-align: left;">180 Degrees Bar</h4><p style="text-align: left;"><i>Best for: Sunset views</i></p><p style="text-align: left;">Having tried multiple times to book a table beforehand; we just turned up a couple of minutes before the sunset started and honestly, it was carnage but we got in in the end. It was just the two of us and I was determined to find a seat - so I did but if there's a big group of you, I would suggest getting something booked before you arrive because it was no easy feat! <br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">There was a €20 entree fee but this included a free drink so when you factor in that we were spending €15 for cocktails everywhere else, the entree fee was hardly nothing. </p><p style="text-align: left;">Be warned, it was very busy and also a little bit pretentious but I wouldn't let that put you off, the sunset views are worth it. <br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1215" data-original-width="972" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijsSz3e_uc79afORsQHzr6Gxka1siFosai-BJqg674TBpWkql3nmH2dyhvfTP47QQuG7T3HCbstZQBgeWQcQBQJ5AH1J6hWqyD7jTU78gz_5FOdQlEFeY0YomsKkcdjjUCVTK-FjFDHJ4/s320/IMG_20210819_103819_029.jpg" width="256" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><h4 style="text-align: left;">Yialo Yialo</h4><p style="text-align: left;"><i>Best for: Romantic evenings</i></p><p style="text-align: left;">The restaurants that line Platis Gialos beach vary quite a

initially stopped for dessert (which was very good) and were shocked to
see the cheapest cocktails we'd come across - €13 each!</p><p style="text-align: left;">A lot of places in Mykonos serve their own unique cocktails; ones they
had created had themselves which more often than not, were not very good
but this menu was full of classics so we went straight ahead and ordered a pina colada and a frozen
daiquiri. <br /></p></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxuzcZFieY6rmfjutxMRe2ZpIfRk5uYk50HtVyybt-6HliSKQLFvsDbE9cBp1pMsu-1Z2-tnI1vz15eNrxQXFVm4PmJWmnJp_iDPl7KHWu5JumO8GZ3msTntr72JDsohEyeKCG9D-Pogs/s320/IMG-20210816-WA0062.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><h3>SantAnna</h3></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><p style="text-align: left;"><i>Best for: Beach club vibes </i><br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">I'm not usually one to sit at the beach all day but Mykonos is full of beach clubs so we wanted to experience it.<br /></p><p style="text-align: left;">I
decided on SantAnna on Paraga beach and I was more than happy with my
choice. Some of the prices at the other places were completely
outrageous but SantAnna gave us what we wanted for a slightly more
reasonable price. We booked a little beach cabana for €80 each, half of
which was redeemable against food and drinks and the vibe was super
relaxed and laid back. </p><p style="text-align: left;">I spent the whole trip drinking caprioskas
and the ones at SantAnna were some of my favourite - each enjoyed in a
different part of the club. We spent the day by the beach, had lunch
under the huge
bamboo pergola and finished the late afternoon drinking by the pool.</p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="1800" data-original-width="1440" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_jJqb-rH5frUPil4u694lYB3hjG_-PhgOh5LmFV_ecsEbCqOGvKJ4g9_QcuexAJhMkrv8WRchHKni8Sg18XlL8EJggCQCIfyU7TDWrLmSNjBgoAALF17ogv4v27KwFUsKltotgaJpldU/s320/IMG_20210819_103818_880.jpg" width="256" /> <br /></p></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><h3>Veranda </h3></div><p style="text-align: left;"><i>Best for: Old town experience</i></p><p style="text-align: left;">Having made it out of the maze of streets in the old town center, we stumbled across a little cluster of bars hidden around the back. They were right on the water with the windmills in the distance, it was an awesome place to sit - as long as you didn't mind the occasional splash from a big wave. </p><p style="text-align: left;">There was a different vibe from the main part of the old town; more relaxed, kind of less bothered about what was going on around them - having spoken to a waitress later that day, we realised its because that's where to locals go.</p><p style="text-align: left;">I was impressed with the cocktail menu and the high quality of these drinks compared to some of the places we went to. <br /></p><p style="text-align: left;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2016" data-original-width="1512" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2HmDOLzlsP3dydQsCzDYc3fVYHG9fIs-sRc3MR_BvAKjUAegaWakeWSrTaNm_H2l0pKWS6sRarWVvLuNhjtJsU_0cmh6IrcRlM7OjK7RN3dKnmWFUn-1RohlaKbBWRFT15UPvtC17_Eg/s320/IMG-20210815-WA0080.jpg" width="240" /></p><p style="text-align: left;"></p><h3 style="text-align: left;">Beef Bar</h3><p style="text-align: left;"><i>Best for: Beachside luxury</i></p><p style="text-align: left;">The Beef Bar is located in the Bill&Coo hotel and was a bit of a hidden gem in my opinion. Our hotel recommended it so we hopped on the quad bike and went for a late afternoon drive. </p><p style="text-align: left;">It looked over the hotel's small private beach and out to the sea meaning there were hardly any people around. The view was flawless plus it was just calm and very relaxing.</p><p style="text-align: left;">The whole place felt very exclusive but the
price of the drinks obviously factored that in, because my cocktail was
€24. That being said, it was also the best cocktail I had whilst in Mykonos and the location was pretty perfect.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjE2fXK9Bl23bipIJPUSFGHSdrKQ2VqfayfoEQQFoyMG5RhUxDI1hNvRZ49UgI-bngtMINOkXUdUM27WDbhJK0rS9JjvQKFu59Ufrk3XFz8C5ob-MApX_oqU49G1Z4drMmOYQMg3mJIhw/s320/20210817_160457.jpg" width="240" /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Which one will you visit first?<br /></div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3083862632241323175.post-37492945227936766502021-11-16T08:19:00.005-08:002021-11-16T08:19:49.927-08:00Italian Gourmet Ready Meals By Delita<p>
Last month, I popped down to a very fancy house in Notting hill for a night in with Delita.</p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="1367" data-original-width="2048" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmQq10bvRMIDNzYYv97zbC0JKQPZX7x65EiZVuh1QtqpaTKZ2oWwiYtQDCpgnzOuICPFh6vj_WA1kiENUPy7vcblOK1VPxxgRGfbrMZhFYYxvbfkYMsLI9Xjz0uNFN9iPy3clcCGtryUY/s16000/20211014-SAP_6602.jpg" /></p><p>Technically pre-made and microwavable, Delita don't quite resonate with the term 'ready meal' because they are more than just that. </p><p>It's a premium product; a ready meal like no other.</p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2zH2lJ7jHg6MBZoyGHb12FAoi2bNCNd0MK50Dkk8BfyKI-9dB1xstkX2ZP0QaN3Nok5skUcr4NNXB77ie1bHFi5a5_JvVW-QDHePhDqDq063lqtLxCDNOkt9v5Xzhfsf65KEzeokMf0c/s320/20211014_174113.jpg" width="240" /></p><p>Having struggled to find any authentic and ready to go Italian food, Ava and Daniel - the co-founders, decided to do it themselves and they've done a great job.</p><p>The result? Restaurant standard food; ready to eat in minutes. </p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="1367" data-original-width="2048" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDkHQLRBx1mjIr7dtHUmDS_L0mm93jUMWG4_vhMYok6WgFnE3ob47HFXxKBeE1IjnYCPp7nYx9fMI-nyv4F2expnEFmaHeXUWds-LqJw6atr3G4nL1_GWSWhZyPguZY2VVjwXr1Key0xc/s320/20211014-SAP_6480.jpg" width="320" /></p><p>Each dish is created with high quality ingredients and comes in a vacuum sealed glass jar which removes the need for preservatives. The packaging also details how to plate up with style so you can really make a statement when you serve
it.</p><p>Over the course of the evening, we ate a lot and had I not been sat at the island, watching Daniel make the food; I wouldn't have believed it came out of a microwave. It was rather fancy. </p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="1367" data-original-width="2048" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNDBiYzjw3Pg43jysHKS6BhuxsxCkKi_nPpaq8AtL70whq0jdVN0GsFAzaZWi_57K7CVGY2aBQyserV81ftvtOY03VoEx6ELxH3oLYxWN6jCF32MrTn6Q6BQtkIBhtK6emwD1fher1PXg/s320/20211014-SAP_6451.jpg" width="320" /></p><p></p><p>Georgia loved the tagliatelle; and I can agree - for a veggie dish,
the pasta had an awesome, almost meaty bite but my favourite was
the octopus. Served with roasted cherry tomatoes in saffron potato cream, it wasn't chewy at all. I
just love how boujie it is to be eating octopus at home.</p><p><img border="0" data-original-height="1024" data-original-width="768" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiY5S42CYRoRsczj3d4Od5fD1lCHl60KV4fl1YWpY1DzyIvbYbhaQcsOHRQ7pYZEBIgQVNfYPlhg14TSWUoSsgG_d8wEcKdsPMfimD0z-xW5hM3UMbu_4EnSTxYEBIsjH4vSyGk4KVfI1Y/s320/5mtlbi.jpg" width="240" /><br /></p><p>What a lovely event, really. I brought Georgia along and it just felt
like we'd been invited to a dinner party with friends. Good company, amazing venue and delicious, high quality food!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrPNW_Ve5laDcp8uNxVLiYwRKsg27aUhVKhz5LOhpCt-yRn-J_Ez-WoQGGncL1oJmfvXshQEoilST53RRHYTS6ZQTmYN8DQYzM25k6lcS-phxDLjS6jU0nd27JnuZnjGKwBeHEyyNnQDY/s2048/20211014_200413.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrPNW_Ve5laDcp8uNxVLiYwRKsg27aUhVKhz5LOhpCt-yRn-J_Ez-WoQGGncL1oJmfvXshQEoilST53RRHYTS6ZQTmYN8DQYzM25k6lcS-phxDLjS6jU0nd27JnuZnjGKwBeHEyyNnQDY/s320/20211014_200413.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghkVP2tVNauaduREgQRd0oLx3XCRPCIcwPfbF5h3nAX7I9DdcOIrLY-JtUo5AYEviN44GpofIEPPxyaqXs3WSlH3G3cUmVWnIej_YylSS38oO-qdWCCM5lhtlmJbSmuL6h5_79l0xlO-I/s2048/20211014-SAP_6584.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1367" data-original-width="2048" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghkVP2tVNauaduREgQRd0oLx3XCRPCIcwPfbF5h3nAX7I9DdcOIrLY-JtUo5AYEviN44GpofIEPPxyaqXs3WSlH3G3cUmVWnIej_YylSS38oO-qdWCCM5lhtlmJbSmuL6h5_79l0xlO-I/s320/20211014-SAP_6584.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: right;">*Invite</div>GeorginaGoodmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10163105086847652409noreply@blogger.com3
