LIFESTYLE: New Year, New Filofax

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

It's January and it's a new year which means it's time for a brand new dairy for 2014. I  picked this lovely purple saffino filofax.

You may remember my pink one from last year. I loved its crazy colour but being so big made it quite heavy. It was great for keeping on my desk at work (waaay back when I had a job) but this time I went for a smaller personal sized one which is the perfect size and weight for my handbag.

I just love how organised a filofax is. It's already sorted when you buy it, all you have to do is fill it in! I always go for one with a popper as I hate it flying open in my bag, I like to keep everything secure and neat and organised  and a popper is the best thing for the job.

The organiser comes with all sorts of different pages. Obviously the diary inserts are take up the main bulk of the pages and are probably going to be the most used in my case but I also love the little to-do pages with tick boxes and all the funky note paper which you get in pink, green, blue and white. You also get graph paper (which I will have fun colouring in when I am bored haha), plain paper, address book pages, Important information and a ruler!

What Diary Are You Using For 2014?

LIFESTYLE: Party Planning

Tuesday, 14 January 2014

Its Andrews birthday again soon! He's going to be 23, that's so weird, I only met him when he was 19. I haven't got him anything yet but we are staying at Westfield that weekend so I'm going to buy all his presents then. haha yes, I did say staying at Westfield. It's one of those things that we love doing. It's not too expensive, the hotel was brand new for the Olympics and its so nice to go shopping all day, walk out of the center and your at your room already. We go back for a rest and to get ready and then go back for dinner and cinema/casino/more shopping haha. We love it!
That's most of Andrew birthday with me sorted but he's doing a lads night out with the guys. I'm useless at arranging things, I get worried that no one will take any notice so I just leave it to Andrew.
He knows what I'm like so I thought maybe I'll try and come up with some helpful ideas instead. I came across this party planner app, which was a great help for ideas. My new idea (thanks to the app)? - Fancy dress haha.

We all did fancy dress once before -  Hippies! They loved it, So did I actually haha I got to make their tie dye tees and wear my pretty Motel Rocks dress as well!

I'm thinking this time, they should go for Super Heros!

FASHION: Eyelash Knit and Acid Wash Jeans

Monday, 13 January 2014

I've been wanting a plain eyelash knit for ages now but the only ones that I liked were the ones from Topshop which were too expensive to justify when I knew there were ones in Primark for £10 - I just couldn't find one anywhere. So when I managed to drag Andrew into a Primark whilst out for dinner at Westfield one night I was so excited to finally spot one! He has an issue with Primark, he hates it in there and goes on silent strike until we leave haha. He knew about my jumper search which lead him to actually speak to me in a Primark store, he offered to get it for me for Christmas. Aww.

I was on dog watch duty while Andrew was trying to take these photos for me. My brother was having a new sofa delivered for his bedroom (which I still haven't even been bothered to go and look at yet) which meant the front door being open for quite a while so my dad shut Molly in my bedroom with us and her squeaky pig. She then ripped it in half resulting in dog toy fluff all over my room so we had to confiscate that haha. But she looked so sad so I had to improvise and give her something else to play with without having to leave my room. I gave her a toilet roll hah.

LIFESTYLE: Afternoon Tea At Harrrods

Saturday, 11 January 2014

Today is exercise day. I stayed at Andrews last night and today we are using his very neglected treadmill. So neglected, that we couldn’t even remember to turn it on. I thought I was off the hook when it started beeping - I didn’t have to run and I can’t feel bad because I tried - but no.  Andrew had just forgotten that you have to flick the saftey switch before you start. So I have just done my 20 minutes on a huge incline and am sitting her writing this while Andrew runs next to me hahaha.

The reason that we have decided that we both need a run is because last night we went out for afternoon tea at Harrods. As amazing as it was we both felt terrible after and it's kick started us to be healthy - For this morning at least! (Not to worry about the Chinese later! You can’t have a Saturday night in without a takeaway.)

The tea was amazing! It was actually a present from Andrews’s parents from Christmas 2012 but we were so busy last year we didn’t get around to it and it expires next week.

Harrods is such a prestigious place to be. The table were laid with crisp white table cloths, silver cutlery and a pretty pink rose whilst the piano played in the background of the Georgian restaurant. Just being in the building makes you feel rich. Its a lovely place to be.

We first made our way through two plates of yummy finger sandwiches. The lobster ones were our favourites in front of the cucumber ones which is strange for Andrew, being a vegetable hater and all. After that we moved onto the huge scones, I like the raisinless ones with lashing of strawberry jam and clotted cream - jam first of course followed by another plate of sandwiches. Then onto the cakes. This is actually my least favourite part of afternoon tea and always has been, I always find them too gooey and sickly. I love the sandwiches best! Still, it was all lovely washed down with a cup of afternoon tea and a glass of champagne.

I'm so happy we finally got around to having it but now that we have, it means we can concentrate of being a bit healthier for 2014!

LIFESTYLE: My Childhood Favourite - Malt Loaf

Friday, 10 January 2014

I grew up eating Soreen's original Fruit Malt Loaf. I loved it smothered in too much butter, it was the perfect healthy snack alternative which wasn't chocolate or crisps that I actually enjoyed eating. My family all love it but as usual Andrew had no idea what it was.

One day in October, I got an email out of the blue saying that the guys at Soreen saw that I followed them on twitter and wondered if I would like a big box of products to write about on my blog. um yes please. haha. And I do also have a valid reason as to why this is actually being posted in January, 3 months after the initial email! I moved house when they were planning to send it out so I got parcel sent to Andrews, he went on holiday before it arrived and the parcel disappeared, we had no idea when it went until it somehow magically turned up back at Andrew house 3 days before Christmas. It was like a Christmas miracle aww

In my box, I recieved:
1 Apple & Saltana Loaf
1 Festive Loaf
1 Fruity-Five Loaf
1 Pre-Buttered Fruity-Five Snack Pack
1 Toastie Loaf
1 Pack of Banana Lunch Box Loaves (5)
plus a pen, some stickers and a recipie book.
I didn't realise that there were so many different variations of it, I thought it was just malt loaf and that's it. I think my dad was most excited about it so after taking my lovely photos below (haha) I took the box downstairs and that's all I saw of it apart from a few little slices now and again. We opened a couple of the big loafs on Christmas day and let my grandparents take them home. They were super yummy and great to eat as a morning snack (I was far too excited for a proper breakfast). Then over the next few days we just carried on eating and eating and by the time it was January, the whole lot was finished.

My favoruite of the bunch was the apple and saltana one, it was another super yummy taste and also happened to be my dads favorite one. I was also so amused that it was a different colour to what I'm used to. haha yeah.

Thanks Soreen!
