FASHION: Fashionably Fit with Sports Shoes

Wednesday, 19 February 2014

When I was contacted about the sports shoes Fashionably Fit campaign,  I was right in the midst of my January exercise motivation spur, I was feeling fat and I wanted to get fit but I could feel the motivation slipping away.

The  campaign was launched in response to the outrage Daily Mail columnist, Jan Moir, caused when she criticised singer Katherine Jenkins for running the marathon in full make up (read more here). The whole idea is to see if bloggers thought looking stylish spurs you on to work harder while exercising. I say yes

I exercise in my garage on my exercise bike and before now, I'd do it in my pyjamas - An over-sized tee and a pair of shorts. I think the fact that there wasn't a clear change between sleeping/relaxing and exercising, because I was still in my pyjamas, was making it very hard.  I really couldn't be bothered but when I started to actually get dressed properly for my exercise I was more motivated, I wanted to do it properly - I did make the effort to get up and get ready after all, and that is exactly what these clothes are made for, they are alot more comfortable to exercise in, that's for sure. I hate when clothes stick me to when I get sweaty, I think that was also part of the problem but there isn't too much loose material here to stick to me and they are breathable, stretchy and comfortable!

In my lovely new matching Nike set, I would even be happy to run in the street (which I would obviously never do in my pyjamas haha). I felt like in my new clothes, I was ready to exercise and exercise harder.

Do You Think Looking Good Makes Your More Motivated?

LIFESTYLE: Quorn

Tuesday, 18 February 2014

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Quorn and asked if I would like to try out some of their products. I said I'd love to and a few days later a big box of products arrived. I'm going to be honest here, I, myself only got to try one of the products. That must say something for them, my brothers ate everything else so they must have enjoyed them! I was a little worried when I agreed to this that my family would reject it, we are big meat eaters so I wasn't sure if they were just going to shun them but I was surprised. I left them in the fridge to see if there were any takers and they started eating them - by choice! I think one of the reasons apart from the taste (which they would have had to like if they were going to carry on eating, they are really reaalllly picky) was how easy they were to prepare, they all came with easy cooking instructions and were near enough exactly the same as cooking regular meat.

As for the product that I got the taste, lucky me, they left me one! It was lovely and I'd happily eat it again. It was a pesto, mozzarella and fake chicken escalope. I seriously would not have noticed that it wasn't real chicken, the texture was the same. One thing I would say was the pesto in the escalope was very overpowering so I didn't get a great chance to have a real taste of the fake chicken. oh and I know the place looks empty haha that how I eat nowadays, I get my meat, or my not meat, in this case and I eat it with a can of sweet corn. The quorn website has some high protein recipe ideas so I should have really had a look at those first!

So to end this post I'm going to say, I'm shocked but Quorn at my house was a success!

FASHION: Blink 182 Band Tee

Monday, 17 February 2014

When I was younger, I was totally one of those scene kids, you know the lightning strike print skinny jeans, the huge trainers, the over straightened, spiky on top, changing colour every week hair and the big criminal damage hoodies, until we moved house in November my whole bedroom wall was covered in Kerrang magazines, mostly pictures of the Blink 182 boys. I was obsessed at one point, I bought all of their books, ordered magazine cuttings from eBay, bought all the CDs (not that I had a CD player haha) and listened to them all day and all night. I'd still say I count them as my favourite band ever. I used to get so upset that I would never see them perform live together but a couple of years ago they reunited and my amazing boyfriend got us tickets to see them at the 02. They were all grown up, but I still loved the music

I may have grown out of the style but I'm still a big fan of rock, all kinds really, screamo, metal, pop rock, emo, punk pop, but Blink 182 will always be my favourite band. So when Blue Banana, an online shop that I was very familiar with back then, offered to let me pick something from their website, I thought it was definitely time for a new band tee. This is so me. I've always wanted this simple one with the huge logo but couldn't find it anywhere, Andrew was shocked that I had managed to finally get hold of one. I totally had to include my trying to be scene but totally forgotten how to photos at the end haha

LIFESTYLE: HP Slate 7 Inch Tablet with Data Pass

Sunday, 16 February 2014

Today I want to introduce you to my new HP slate 7 tablet from Argos and a couple of my favorite apps, that I use it for.

I've wanted a cute little sturdy tablet for a while now to pop in my handbag and take everywhere with me. One thing that I was really impressed about this tablet was the fact that it came with two years 3G+ mobile broadband for free, no contract or anything like that which means I can have the internet on it where ever I go. It's 7" which is the perfect size and it has a big clear screen and 7.5 hours worth of battery. I also loved that it had space to insert a SD card, so that's as much memory as you need.

On to the apps! Of course my absolute favorite app, since the moment I downloaded it has to be Instagram. I could just spend hours on it, I'm so interested in seeing what's going on in other peoples lives and actually seeing it how they do though an image as its happening, I love the instant world we live in. The HP Slate 7 Inch Tablet is great for Instagram. There is an actual app for it which means it fits onto the screen and isn't all stretched and distorted, which can't be said for the ipad at the moment. It also has 2 built in cameras, a back and a front one, perfect for a cheeky selfie and you can upload straight from there.

The second app is called Line Camera and I use it to put smiley faces on everything. It does other things as well, there are actually loads of stamps, boarders, all that kind of stuff but I just love the faces! It's a really fun and easy to use, and when your finished making your photo beautiful you can export it straight to instagram from there!

As tablets go, its not bad! I'm very happy with it so far and you cant complain at £169.99 including the 2 years 3G+.

REVIEW: The Lush Comforter Bubble Bar

Saturday, 15 February 2014

The Comforter is the first ever Lush product I used. Andrew and I went into the shop looking for something nice for the bath and this one just caught my eye. I loved the interesting swirly pattern, we didnt have any idea what it was, all we knew was it wasnt a bath bomb but it looked good and it smelt amazing so we bought one. That was early last year before I knew anything about Lush. We got home and dropped the whole thing into a running bath ahah. It was amazing, the bath was overflowing with amazing fruity bubbles and the water turned bright pink. At the time we thought it was pretty expensive for just one bath (£4.50) but what I came to realise was that for that price, you were meant to break it up and get more like 5 or 6 baths, just as bubbly, out of it. Amazing.

Last week for Andrews birthday, I think I already mentioned that we booked a hotel in Westfield, we picked up a comforter while we were there and had a lovely pink bubble bath. These photos of the bar were taken after its first use and you can see, there is hardly any missing. When I got out I could smell the amazing fruity smell on my skin for ages afterwards and I felt very soft, smooth and lovely.

This is a firm favourite with me and I would buy it again and again.
