LIFESTYLE: Cupcakes With Baking Mad

I guess the guys at Baking Mad must have been as impressed as I was with my bread making skills because they got back in touch to see if I wanted to work on their next campaign, of course I said yes but I think this time I think I may have lost my good cook reputation. 

The theme was Vanilla. They have teamed up with Nielsen Massey and asked us to pick a recipe that included some of their vanilla products. I went for the vanilla cupcake recipe, but I still managed to mess that one up haha although I can blame Andrew for that one, it wasn't my fault that he didn't have a muffin/cupcake tray to cook them in!
I had a fun afternoon making them but lets just say, they didn't turn out like the photo haha, although they did taste quite nice!

LIFESTYLE: #NationalCarrotCakeDay With Costa Coffee

Just a quick little post to say thanks to Costa for getting me involved in #NationalCarrotCakeDay which was yesterday! I have never tried it before because I thought it would just taste like vegetables but when they got in touch and offered me some, I wasn't going to turn that down. Always time for cake.

My dad just popped to the high street to do some bits so I sent him with my giftcard to get whatever he wanted and bring me back a tea and slice of carrot cake. I was very excited when he got home and he had actually remembered haha.

The cake was moist and spicy and had alot of texture from the walnuts. The Layered Carrot Cake is Costa's most popular whole cake - since its launch in 2009! I loved the icing on top and was a little bit surprised that it didn't taste like carrots so that's a good thing but nothing is going to beat a chocolate cake in my eyes.

Thanks Costa for pushing me to finally try carrot cake and realising that it really isn't that bad!

LIFESTYLE: Red Velvet Baking With Betty Crocker

I love to bake! Most girls my age do but as you might have seen before on my blog, I'm not the best at it so when Betty Crocker got in touch as asked if I wanted to try out some of their cake mixes, I obviously jumped at the chance, not sure I would have known how to make a Red Velvet mix by myself haha. With Betty Crockers easy ready made mixes, all I had to do was add in the eggs, water and oil, do some mixing and some putting together and ta dahh - I finish up with a red velvet cake. I did still manage to burn the sides after having to use two different sized cake tins and thinking that they would cook at the same rate - my bad haha but I cut them off so know one would never have known and it makes it look more homemade anyway! Plus the whole cake had been eaten in two days so I cant have done that bad of a job! I have two more mixes to try out so hopefully I wont burn those as well - I'll keep you updated!

LIFESTYLE: Halloween Cupcakes From The Hummingbird Bakery, Spitalfields

As much as I am a huge summer girl, I love the later part of the year for all the fun holidays and festivals that happen and since Halloween is not far away now, I thought it might be time to start featuring some Halloween products! I have a few more to photograph this weekend so next weeks posts are going to be very halloweeney themed! 

This first post is food - I love to work with The Hummingbird Bakery, everything they sell is always super yummy and amazing. This time I have six of their Halloween themed cupcakes which will be in stores until 2nd November so there's still lots of time to go and pick some up - I would definitely suggest you go and get some, even if you just have one, they are so yummy!! As soon as I opened the box the amazing smell filled the whole kitchen and I had to get in quick to photograph them and choose what I wanted before they all got eaten haha. Obvs I was drawn straight to a chocolate one partly because I haven't had chocolate cake from Hummingbird before but mostly because it was covered in edible glitter! It was light and fluffy and delicious and as with their big cakes there was also a perfect icing to cake ratio. Its become my favourite flavour from them!  Can't wait to eat another one - definitely going to try to save a red velvet one too! 

As well as these cupcakes, they have mini Halloween ones which are so super cute and big cakes like the last one I posted about plus they have a pumpkin pie in which I will have to go an try, I've never had anything like that before!

LIFESTYLE: Red Velvet Cake By The Hummingbird Bakery

I probably should have just titled this : The best cake you have ever tasted. I was originally meant to get this cake for my birthday back in August but I ended up being so busy and not having time to pick it up until a few weeks after so I called up the lovely girls at bakery and had the "Happy 21st Georgina" Changed to "Georgina Does" so that I could still feature it here on my blog!

Now let me tell you how good this cake is! It was an 8 inch cake - which on the site says for 10-12 people. I brought it home on the Friday, had a slice for myself which was wonderful, went to Andrews for the weekend, which left 3 cake eaters at my house - my dad and both my brothers. I came home on the Sunday to less than a 1/4 of the cake left - Which I immediately claimed for myself putting a "Do Not Eat" sticky note on it so that I could finish the rest haha. I can see why they got though it so quickly, it is such a yummy cake with the perfect cake to butter cream ratio! I also love that red velvet is a cream cheese butter cream which makes it not so sickly sweet.. mmm so good! Isn't red velvet just the best style of cake around and The Hummingbird Bakery definitely do the best one I've tasted!

The process of ordering online looks super easy with step by step of what size, how your was the crumbs on top and a text box to write out the message for the top, plus you can choose super cute decorations for £1.25 to put on the top but when I got mine I called up and ordered that was which was just as easy! The girls there were great since I had to keep changing the pick up day! I finally popped into the Soho store picked it up and took it home!

I could really do with another slice right about nowwww!

LIFESTYLE: #HelloSummerMoments with Costa Coffee

To celebrate Costa Coffee's delicious new Summer menu, they got in touch and asked me to take part in their #HelloSummerMoments challenge which of course I was very happy to do! I had loads of fun with it - I love a good blog challenge to spend the week thinking about!

I was sent an amazing little picnic basket filled with treats! I got one of each of the new menu cakes which were never going to last a long time in my house! They disappeared as soon as my dad and brothers arrived home haha Luckily I guessed this might happen and hid the white chocolate Blondie (which is my absolute favourite) so I could eat it myself later on! I also got  a £30 gift card to help me with my tasks, three pretty nail polishes, a Frisbee, clutch bag and a Champneys nail file and a note detailing my tasks! I feel like a secret agent spy reporting my findings back to you guys!


We were given four tasks to complete over five days - have a look how I did!

Ok so let me set the scene for where the majority of these were taken - Sunday morning, Andrew and I had spend the night in Covent Garden, stayed overnight in a hotel (more to come in a week or two) and wanted to pop into Costa before jumping on the train home, right? Well as we left the hotel, the heavens opened and its started pouring! Luckily for me, I brought along one of Andrews hoodies for the stay, unluckily for him, he decided to wear just a t-shirt and shorts haha we literally ran all the way to cover in Costa! I took of the hoodie and was dry. I turned around and saw this...
hahahahahahahah I couldn't stop laughing but then I felt like the worst girlfriend ever so I sat him down and got him a toasty and a drink - he soon perked up and dried off! Costa to the rescue!

Ok so now onto the tasks in hand!

 I took this one possibly a little before he perked up (see photo) haha I was still in histerics but I felt bad laughing at him so I went off to take a toilet selfie and left him in peace with his toasty haha
 I also took these with that cheeky blondie that I hid away for myself earlier!

Since the mint green polish was my favourite of the three that were in the hamper and taking some inspiration from my favourite flavour combination from the summer menu, I ended up with mint green nails with chocolate syrup dripping down them! I was quite proud of myself with theses, they took me less that 10 minutes and all I used was a tooth pick. #Skillz

Again, taking inspiration from the mint flavours and the perfect time to wear my new top from Primark, I went for a green outfit which I kept dry with Andrews lovely hoodie - Here's me in Costa accessorising my minty look with my minty drink - we could be twins, all I need is a flower/mint crown!
Introduce/treat a friend/family member to an item from Costa's Summer menu!

Well obviously, I had to introduce Andrew to my favourite cake since it missed out to a toastie the day before! I bought one and took it home to share with him in bed for breakfast the next morning!

LIFESTYLE: The Hummingbird Bakery, SOHO

Last week I was very lucky to be invited down to the Hummingbird Bakery (Soho branch) for the first time ever and given a few cakes to try!
Having walked past it a couple of times recently, I already knew it was a cute little pink shop but going in an having a look at all the amazing looking cakes was quite an experience! Everything looked amazing, there were rows and rows of cupcakes and then a big collection of big cake stands at the end with the most amazing looking cakes I've ever seen plus whoopie pies and tray bakes! The first one that I was drawn to and had to try was the rainbow cake, I have attempted to make one before and it was a big failure to I was a little star struck or cake struck to see such a perfect one with such bright colours and very defined lines, the cake itself was very moist and tasted rather normal - I was expecting it to taste like food colouring considering the craziness of its colour, but it was a really lovely sponge! I was also super shocked that the icing wasn't just plain vanilla like I was expecting but super sweet bubblegum flavour.
The next cake didn't need thinking about, even before I had arrived, I knew that I had to try one of their red velvet cakes, no questions asked. I couldn't leave without trying one of the pretty cupcakes so this time I went for a red velvet cupcake rather than a big slice. My friend, Alice met me after work so we tried that one together, she was actually the one who mentioned their red velvet cakes to me in the first place so she was the right person to try it with! It was just as amazing as I'd heard, lovely moist sponge with loads of amazing cream cheese icing - red velvet is taking over and is definitely their most popular - I can see why, its now my flavour of choice too!
The staff in store were lovely and very helpful, after spending the afternoon sitting in there watching the world go by, I soon learnt that although it's super busy and there were people dropping in all afternoon, they knew their customers very well! Alot of their conversations finished with see you tomorrow at the end and for others who were just as unfamiliar as me, they staff knew their stuff, one lady popped in to pick up some cupcakes for catching up with her friend that night and asked one of the girls about alot of the cakes, she knew every exact details of each cake, it was very impressive.

Huge Thanks to the Hummingbird Bakery for a lovely afternoon and starting my new addiction! I will be popping in every time I walk past from now on!

LIFESTYLE: Cake Card From SPONGE

This idea is pretty amazing! A cake card - yummy and a nice little surprise - I'm sure most people don't expect to receive a slice of cake in the post!

The process is very easy, you type up the text you want on the front and a message for the inside, next you pick from five flavors - chocolate, lemon, carrot, Victoria sponge or coffee and if the decision is just to hard then you could always add an extra slice to your card! I opted for a Victoria sponge slice as that is definitely my favorite cake!! There is also the option to add images if you fancy which is a nice personal touch!

My cake arrived a few days later and was surprisingly moist and yummy, alot nicer than you would expect! It was super sweet and one slice was perfect!  I know this is a bit strange but I was glad to see a use by date on the back of the cake too so I knew it was in date
