LIFESTYLE: Kitchen Wishlist

Wednesday, 12 August 2015

Since I've started work, I have come in to contact with alot of people my age, who no longer live at home with their parents. I feel like the little kid around them while they are talking about bills and getting their heating fixed and I'm not even making me bed in the morning.

I am in no rush to move out although I am looking forward to being able to decorate a house how I want it to look. I always come across things in shops and think "I'd love something like that when I have my own house" so today is a bit of an imaginary homewear wishlist! It started out as a homeware wishlist but ended up being totally kitchen focused! When it comes to the house itself aka the walls, I want white everything. White walls are a must to keep everything feeling fresh, light and airy.
I would love to get pretty white appliances for the kitchen too, you know, white toasters, white microwaves and a big white fruit bowl. And what am I going to do with all that fruit you ask? I would also have a nutribullet to make lots of yummy smoothies - duh.

Pretty jars to keep whatever I fancy in them. Maybe colourful, individually wrapped sweets or nuts or something like that. I also love this pineapple shaped jar to put boring looking things like tea bags in.

Taking of tea - I love this simple G mug and of course an A one for Andrew too!

LIFESTYLE: Red Velvet Baking With Betty Crocker

Sunday, 9 November 2014

I love to bake! Most girls my age do but as you might have seen before on my blog, I'm not the best at it so when Betty Crocker got in touch as asked if I wanted to try out some of their cake mixes, I obviously jumped at the chance, not sure I would have known how to make a Red Velvet mix by myself haha. With Betty Crockers easy ready made mixes, all I had to do was add in the eggs, water and oil, do some mixing and some putting together and ta dahh - I finish up with a red velvet cake. I did still manage to burn the sides after having to use two different sized cake tins and thinking that they would cook at the same rate - my bad haha but I cut them off so know one would never have known and it makes it look more homemade anyway! Plus the whole cake had been eaten in two days so I cant have done that bad of a job! I have two more mixes to try out so hopefully I wont burn those as well - I'll keep you updated!

LIFESTYLE: Feeding The Family For Under £10

Thursday, 27 February 2014

Leeds Building Society challenged me to create a fun meal in for £10. Their Kick My Habits research found that the average Briton spends £17.34 per week on evenings out. (it's alot higher for me and Andrew haha alot alot) so if we were to substitute that £17 night out for a £10 night in that saves £382 per year!

So what did I do with my challenge? I not only fed myself, I fed the whole family with it! Easy! This meal is fun and easy to make and everyone always loves it. Growing up, it was my favourite meal of the week and as soon as I was old enough, my mum taught me how to make it. Now its my specialty haha
What You Will Need:

Spaghetti                                                        - £0.95
Tinned Tomatoes                                            - £1.25
Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce              - £1.19
Bisto Beef Gravy Granules                            - £2.00
Mince Meat                                                    - £4.00
                                                                         £9.39

Method:

-Start to boil the water for pasta
-Brown meat and drain excess fat
-Half fill pan with water
-Add whole can of tinned tomatoes and break them up with a fork
-Add gravy granules to taste - the more you add the thicker it gets, just how I like it
-Add a few splashes of Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and mix together
- Leave to simmer for 10 minutes and mix every so often.

and that's the meat done, now you just need to cook the spaghetti, if your clever, you'll work out how to get them both done at the same time, I haven't got that yet! Then you plate it all up and add some grated cheese on top! Yummy
