BRAIN DUMP: My Mental Health

Monday, 25 July 2016

You might have noticed that I’ve recently decided that I wanted my blog to go in a bit more of a travel direction. I look forward to my holidays all year long so with travel being something I’m so passionate about and my blog being something I spend so much time on, I came to the conclusion that it would be something that I would enjoy writing about. And I was right, I have really enjoyed working on my blog over the past few weeks, much more than I can ever remember and hopefully, that is coming through in my content.
I somehow managed to get invited on a press trip which was amazing luck, I got to experience something and somewhere completely new, travel with different people and leave with lots of new content for my blog. As excited as I was, however, there was also a little bit of fear that came with my first ever press trip. Would I not be able to keep up, would I be able to get the content I wanted from it and would I get on with the other bloggers? Those were the normal worries, but with the state of my mental health (which my therapist has done very well to reduce might I add), I was still having weird thoughts like would I be able to carry my case around without Andrew (of course I could), what if I forgot to unplug my charger and the hotel caught fire or what if I wasn't exactly on time so the others left and I was stranded abroad with no way home. But everything was fine. I was fine and I had fun.
My OCD did rear its head a little at the start but rather than making me stressed and upset, it made me smile because it reminded me how bad I used to be and how much easier life is now. I knew that I was checking the door a ridiculously amount of times and of course, it was very annoying to be checking a safe that I hadn’t even put anything in but I also knew that with the new skills that the therapist had taught me and a bit of brain power, I would be able to get it under control and by the next morning I was better, only checking that the door had shut behind me and then getting on with my day without worrying that someone was going to walk in, steal my things and it would have been all my fault because I didn’t check the door.

Things came up, only silly things but where in the past I would have spent days re-running it though my head until I crumbled, but I sorted it out and got on with it. For example, I didn’t bring a laptop with me and I got really anxious when I found out that I was the only one who didn’t. I use my phone for the majority of my blogging but I didn’t want to look unprofessional or like I wasn’t taking it seriously because I was. It took a few hours but rather than having a panic attack I manged to convince myself that I was being ridiculous because having a laptop with me wouldn’t have made one bit of difference to my productivity or my output.

This time last year, I was just about to have a mental breakdown and two months later, I did, but after six months of hell, we gave up with the NHS and got some real help. Even after my first CBT session, I saw a difference. I might not have started acting differently right away but I could see that the way I was thinking wasn’t right and that was a good start. Six months later and spent a week at home on my own (the thing that sent me into meltdown last time) and I managed to get through this whole trip only getting stressed right at the very end when I thought I was going to be late for work on the way back. Obviously, I was still 20 minutes early.

This post was meant to be about something completely different but I guess I just wanted to get it off my chest, hope you guys dont mind!

OOTD: Monochrome Shift Dress

Saturday, 14 September 2013

Hi Guys
Todays post is another smart outfit I put together for work before I learnt about the smart casual thing. It's the first time I've worn this dress and I think it is a really good thing to have in my wardrobe. As well as looking very smart I think it is quite stylish as well. I will always love monochrome, but not just subtle monochrome like a little ditsy print, I love big statement monochrome where you can see the contrast between the black and white. I also really love the shape of this dress, it's a very loose shift shape and for going out, this really isnt me, but for work or somthing posh it's great and makes a nice change for me.

I am totally not an accessorie person but when I wear black and white, I like to add in one thing in a bright colour, be it shoes, a bag or in this case and neckalce which I havent worn since my year 11 prom. I finished off the outfit with my favourite pair of shoes, but I'm going to have to stop wearing them soon because it's not summer anymore, waa

OOTD: Jones And Jones Shannon Dress

Saturday, 7 September 2013

With the weather so warm on Thursday and knowing it was likely to be our last day of summer, I thought I better get my Jones and Jones dress out, even if it was only for a few pretty photos! I haven't had anywhere to wear this dress to yet, I think it is so cute but now I’m thinking it might have to wait until next summer as it is a very spring/summer colour. Im thinking something like a summer wedding guest outfit is perfect. Jones and Jones are my go to brand for big events like that and I actually have quite a large collection going on now! They don't fit inside my wardrobe so all of them hang on the outside.

You guys might remember that I few months ago I was invited down to their Spitalfield's store to spend some time with the team trying on some of the new season dresses, I got to pick my favourite one and take it home, so here it is.

I love that all of the Jones and Jones dresses have the extra poofieness (Is that even a word?!) to them with the layers in the skirt. If you know me, you'll know that I love that triangle silhouette of a puffy skirt. This dress is very well made and you can feel the good quality material. If you'd like it for yourself, its currently half price in the sale!

Need to work out why some of my photos are blurry :'(

OOTD: Red Midi & Demi Wedge

Sunday, 25 August 2013

Hey guys!

I don't know if it has come across to you (maybe in my lack of posing on here) that since I've been back home from my amazing cruise, I have been totally unmotivated to do anything, including blogging. I'm not sure why but I'm working hard to get back into the swing of things.

As I was looking though my folders of outfit photos I came across these and for some reason I thought they were hilarious, no idea why but I they just made me laugh, maybe some of the poses paired with the super funky sunnies haha and I love the ones with Molly as well, So there was that little kick start that I needed to get me back into posting.

I probably wouldn't wear this outfit with sunglasses because if it is hot enough for sunnies, then it's definitely too hot for a midi. But I love the shoes with the dress, both the style and the two colours work really well together I think!

Dress: Missguided
Shoes: *SpyLoveBuy

Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did and hopefully it won't be too long before I post again!

OOTD: Camo

Thursday, 20 June 2013

It seems that I am making a habit of taking a while between posts but as of recently I've been so busy (as I keep saying haha) I went to France on Monday with the boys which meant no time for blogging from sunday till Tuesday (preperation and sleeping you know) and Wednesday I was at my internship, so this is the first chance I've had! I've got a few photos from France so I'm gonna do a post on that soon too! Right, lets get down to business.

Up until this outfit, I have never worn camo, it's just a print I've never been intersted. I know it was coming back into fashion so I picked up this skirt for like £5 while I was working at the Motel Rocks sample sale a few weeks back, why not for that price?! I have fallen in love with Motel's version of the prin and also got myself a crop top (naturally) while I was there and so much other stuff! I have filmed a haul which I will be putting up some time soon with photos as well to show you all what I picked up. Also, how cool is this jacket?! It's like a leather jacket style but it's made of chiffon so it's super light for the summer, I love it and will be taking it away with me on holiday for sure. It just goes with everything and it so easy to scrunch up and throw in your bag, they also stock it in pink and lime.

If your a fan of camo, be sure to check out Motel Rocks and rememer you can use my code - GEORGINAGOODMAN1 - on the site for 20% off!

Molly seems to be making an apprenece in every post lately, seriously, she wont let anyone outside without her, she loves the sun and being outdoors and obviously loves the camera too hahah

Skirt - Motel Rocks
Crop - ASOS
Flip Flops - Primark
Sunglasses - D&G
Jacket* - Quirky ME
