Going out in Femme Luxe

Friday, 11 November 2022

Femme Luxe recently gifted me some new outfits and here's where I wore them:

I wore this square neck, red dress on Halloween - paired with some devil horns and simple black heels. We were actually just going for dinner, rather than any big Halloween event so I thought it worked nicely as a subtle nod to the holiday.

Food was at Coya; we had the tasting menu, which is full of my favourite dishes like some of the ceviche's and the chocolate orange churros. After that, we went for a wander in search of drinks and came across Bagatelle, which was absolutely buzzing on a Monday evening. You could see people dancing on the tables from the street so that’s where we ended up!

This one shouldered top is one of the best things I’ve gotten from Femme Luxe. It’s a deep maroon colour so great for the winter months and it fits me perfectly. The single sleeve is made of a floaty, chiffon material which gives the piece great movement, and the length cuts off at just the right place. I wear it a lot, but recently, paired with high waisted, black, skinny years and boots, for a celebration dinner at Isabel, which meant delicious food and a more champagne that I'd like to admit.

After my fourth vaccine earlier this week, I took a nap and woke up with intense steak cravings, so we booked a table for STK that eve and I went for another Femme Luxe piece.

This ribbed bandeau top came as part of a co-ord with wide leg trousers - which also gets a lot of wear - but for a wintery evening out, I like to pair it again, with my black skinny jeans and converse for a more casual look.
*Gifted clothes.

birthday week 2020: COVID edition

Friday, 2 October 2020

I have always loved birthdays and as usual, this year I took it as a great excuse for a week long celebration; I wasn't going to let COVID get in the way of that. Since I have absolutely no travel content to share with you at the moment I thought what I'd run down what I got up to during birthday week 2020.

My brother lives in Birmingham so he came home for the weekend and celebrations started with family, on the Sunday prior. My mum insisted that I found somewhere with outdoor seating, that we could drive to, rather than getting on the tube so we headed into Shoreditch, which I was more than happy with. Dishoom ticked both those boxes plus everything there is delicious so it was the perfect choice; we even managed to get an awesome table out on their terrace.

I had had a hankering for a roti for weeks so that was the first thing I ordered, plus a black daahl to dip it in. We had chicken, paneer, fish, two huge legs of lamb and then all the rice and veg as well. Still not content, after a chocolate fondant with a birthday candle, we popped over to Boxpark to pick up some cronuts.

Monday was Grandparents day so a little more understated - we just hit up Wildwood which is just on our local high street; they were also doing Eat Out To Help Out at the time. We skipped dessert and headed back home where a huge surprise cake was waiting for me! Cute. Birthday cake is my favourite.

Tuesday was my actual birthday and I spent most of it with Georgia. I started by opening cards and presents with my parents at home before a quick gym session in Bayswater. Georgia and I live at different ends of the city so when we get together, we usually pick somewhere new to explore. We did brunch at Darcie & May Green in Paddington since not only want it a new area for me but it was also on a super cool, boat on the canal. Seated out on the deck, I had my first shakshuka; Georgia ordered something very green and vegan looking plus they kept bringing us prosecco which was a very nice birthday treat! We were both very drunk and full by the time we left.

We opted for Clapham as our next destination, I think the idea of a long last tube ride was actually what swayed us - we both fell asleep hahah. Soon enough, we were drinking more cocktails, outside in the sunshine at Venn St Records.

Wednesday, we had booked to go to an Italian in Mayfair but heading out early, we popped into Amazonico for drinks and ended up staying for food as well. It's my favourite place so once we realised they had tables, it was an easy decision.

All things considered, I had an awesome and very memorable birthday week!

LIFESTYLE: Afternoon Tea At The Playboy Club, Mayfair

Friday, 9 January 2015

If you know me well, you'll know that I love afternoon tea. I think I've made Andrew come with me just one too many times as really doesn't enjoy it anymore so when Georgia comes back to London every now and again, I finally had a good excuse and some good company to take along to tea - Although this time it wasn't any old normal afternoon tea.

Afternoon Tea…with a playful twist and a tail
Afternoon tea at the playboy club* is held between 5-7pm, Tuesday through until Saturday. We popped along after work (back when I had a job) nice and early at 5.30, the place was empty at that point which was quite nice!
We were sat down and along came one of the lovely bunnies with menus for us. She was a really great waitress, very friendly and accommodating the whole way through - as well as calling us both "Darrrrhlings" at every opportunity.
Firstly, like a normal afternoon tea, you pick which tea you'd like although this time they were tea cocktails. Georgia and I both picked different cocktails, I went for fruity and she went for spicy - we both loved what we picked and hated each others which shows how well the titles suited out tastes. They both came served in pretty metal tea pots.
As for the food, that was also lovely. You get a set of sandwiches and rolls each and a collection of pretty cakes. Georgia went straight in for the desserts, going on about how good the strawberry one was for the rest of the meal while I got started on the sandwiches haha. The sandwiches are strangely my favourite part of an afternoon tea and I loved them as usual, especially the egg one this time. Georgia ate both the macaroons so I have no comment on those although everything I did try was very tasty, especially the chocolate bunny cake.

It was a great place to catch up and have a good chat in a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. After tea, we finished off with some super strength cocktails and then sat there chatting some more.
