Father Day Gift Guide

Saturday, 20 June 2015

Everyone loves getting a box of chocolates so of course every occasion is a great excuse to buy some more. I have two boxes here - the first is Hotel chocolat has been put together especially for fathers day and has lovely blue packaging to match. It includes 14 chocolates from shortbread cookies to salted caramel and loads of other really yummy sounding ones!
This second one is a box of nine truffles from Govida. This brand just have such a super luxury feel about them.
I didn't realise LUSH did mens products but apparently they do. D'fluff may be pink but it is in fact a shaving soap and it smells absolutely delicious but anything containing strawberries, cocoa butter and golden syrup would do!

I also have the Refresher which is another shower gelly - I only got my first one of these recently, remember? This one has a citrus smell with lemon oil and lemon  myrtle and hopefully is just as fun to play with haha.

Lastly from Lush, is Cosmetic Lad which is a moisturiser made with aloe vera and lavender honey water making it great for use after shaving!
Talking of shaving, a new razor will always go down well, especially because you know it will get used! How about Braun’s new CoolTec dry shaver. Pretty impressive right?

"Whilst most shavers allow warmth to build up in the head of the shaver, Braun's CoolTec features innovative Thermo-Electric-Cooling technology which transfers heat away from the shaver head and cools down the skin during the shave. When the shaver is switched on, the temperature of the cooling bar drops by 20°C within 2 minutes minimizing redness, burning and itching sensations, leaving a cool and refreshed trace behind.

Available at Boots, Amazon, Argos, larger supermarkets & other good electrical retailers, RRP £199.99.
Now on to the Alcohol. My dad doesn't drink wine that often although he seems to collect it for dinner parties and stuff like that. Andrews dad on the other hand enjoys a glass of wine every now and then so maybe I'll give them one each!

I have a bottle of William Hardy Langhorne Creek Shiraz 2014 which has intense fruit flavours of fresh blackberry and mulberry accompanied by rich black pepper and vanilla spice.

The second is Kumala Colombard Chardonnay which is a white wine with crisp and refreshing flavours which burst with tropical fruit notes and a hint of guava.
My parents recently discovered cocktails on their holiday to Tenerife so I thought they would enjoy this fun at home kit. You get a bottle of Malibu and all the different mixers. Also lots of fun for dinner parties and things like that.
This one isnt alcohol as such but its totally related and a great gift idea for men so it can stay in this section. My family love their drinks ice cold and my dad is no exception! We have grown up drinking bottled water from the fridge because its colder so when I spotted this glass online I knew (if it does exactly what it's meant to do) my dad would love it - perfect for BBQ season coming up!
I was also sent this cute 'Pint of Thanks' from Mainline Menswear which I though I might as well include!

"From the obligatory pair of dad socks to ‘dad essentials’ and a designer T shirt, we've filled this Alliance pint glass with all the things that dad would love"

CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE: Part 1

Wednesday, 10 December 2014

The first of a few gift guides I have planned. Part One

Models Own

This lovely Models Own Lux gift set contains 4x 10ml Nail Polish plus a roll of gold nail tape and a golden cuticle pusher which can be found at Superdrug for £7. I think the gold packaging looks great and really adds to the Lux look plus I love the polish colours!

BLEACH

If like me, you like to dabble is coloured hair, Bleach is the brand for you! This spin the bottle set (£12) is amazing as you get a little bottle of six different colours and they wash out after a few washes so you get a chance to try them all! When I dyed my highlights earlier this year, this would have been perfect although you wouldn't get a full long haired head dyed with these!
Next gift set includes a pencil case, stickers and three hair crayons and costs £10. The hair crayons come in the same shades as some of the dyes so you can have a mess around with temporary colours to see if you like them!
And also from Bleach is this snow globe (£5) that you can add your own photo too! These are super fun and have little holographic hearts floating around!

Jurlique

This stuff smells amazing, as do most of the products in this gift guide! If a product smells good then you are going to smell good when you use it right?! This Petit Rose Duo is one of their special christmas sets and costs £9.

Neal & Wolf

I featured Neal & Wolf in my last years gift guide and I'm featuring them again here with a different products as I love the brand! AURA is the brand new Hair & Body Fragrance and it is ideal for a gift. It smells lovely - very fresh and florally.

Batiste

I always love a new can of Batiste because they come in so useful and there's always a new design to add to my collection - they make for great stocking fillers! My newest one is the orange on on the end from the care and vitality range which is enriched with mandarin oil and is suppose to make hair healthier, stronger and smoother!

Watch Out For Part 2!

*Alot of these products were sent to me for my gift guide although I chose each one and all thoughts on them are my own

LIFESTYLE: Fathers Day Gift Ideas

Friday, 13 June 2014

I wanted to do a fathers day gift guide because I think it's such a hard one. I had a few companies get in touch with their products which all make perfect gifts!

Firstly, Alcohol - preferably Whiskey, its such a dad drink and since my dad is a chauffeur, he hardly has a chance to drink so it's a nice treat when he has a night off! I was kindly sent eight Jim Beam minis in four different flavours which I'm sure my dad will love. Like me, he has a collection on bottles (in the garage), I've only just started collecting spirits but it seems to be addictive, I love all the different shapes haha only problem is I cant bear to open the!
Next idea was something I came across last week - London Designer Outlet which is a mall full of  outlet stores in the uk wembley to be precise. They have a Superdry store and even a Lindt one, so thats a great way to get some lovely bits for less than usual prices!

A travel razor is a useful give for and man! I'm sure will come it useful for any dad haha its very small and easliy charged via USB. Can be purchased from itsawot.com

Next I was contacted by a brand called Bluebeards Revenge who sell all sorts of shaving stuff with a skull and cross bones printed on it, kind of an apt name for the brand haha I like it!
This eau de toilette can be used as an aftershave or an all over body spray, I did open it for a cheeky smell and its very masculine, very smart and businesses- very manly haha I like the blue bottle too! It seems to last quite well too!
Another easy idea is a gift voucher! My dad always asked for a nice new iTunes voucher but you don't have to get one of those, there are clothes vouchers and even experience vouchers which is lovely! I have just come across my Ticketmaster voucher which gave me this idea, ( I might use my one to  go see Kylie while shes playing at The 02 - shes a childhood fave) but this or any voucher to be honest are always a good start for fathers day!

and lastly is a tee shirt brand that my dad has gone crazy over this past year - Weird Fish - so I was very pleased when they offered to send me a couple of tops for him for fathers day! He will be very excited with this. They have funny graphics, mostly of popular bands with their names somehow incorporating a fish haha see, that doesn't make sense, just look at the photo -  you will understand haha. Hopefully I picked two that he doesn't have yet!

LIFESTYLE: Mothers Day Flowers

Tuesday, 25 March 2014

Flowers are always a perfect little extra gift to give your mum on mothers day and I was delighted when The Great British Florist offered to send me a bunch for my mum!

They sent us a pretty pink and cream bunch, perfect pastel colours for this time of year and I love that they are all sorts of shapes and sizes. They arrived in perfect condition and were ready to give to my mum as soon as they did! They were wrapped up beautifully and tied with a shabby chic brown string and tag (which was plain on the back so you can write a cute little message on it!)

How cute is this little story they had on their mother day page about why we give flowers?!

"When young girls and boys were in service - think Downton Abbey - were allowed one day to visit their family - and this day was usually Mothering Sunday. The tradition of sending flowers came from this, as often they were allowed to take flowers from the conservatory or the garden as a gift."
