Barry M Molten Metals Range

Wednesday, 18 May 2016

I hope your ready for my next installment of Barry M polishes because I this is one of my favourite ranges in a long time. It hardly ever happens that I love every single colour in a range but they've managed it with this one! It's called Molten Metals and consists of four beautiful, metallic shades.

Originally, I thought these were a bit chistmassy to be launching in May but they are not your usual glitters and once I put one on, I could see that they are going to look amazing about tanned holiday skin. We are going to quite a luxe hotel later in the year and I have already decided I'm taking this whole range along with me! They are going to be great for that super glam vibe to go along with the hotel.

I do have a little insider tips for these though, first time I put them on, I wasn't happy but second time round, I'd fixed my problem! You guys know I am a lazy nail painter, I dont use a top or base and I only file them if its really essential but with these polishes, it is! My nails cracked and peeling as usual and when these polishes go on top of that, they sink in and show ever nook and cranny which I was not pleased with. This was easily fixed by giving them a quick buff before application the next time!

I'm wearing Bronze Bae (like the rest of the Internet at the moment) - Which one is your favourite?

BEAUTY: Barry M SS16 Daylight Curing Polish & Giveaway

Friday, 19 February 2016

I was lucky enough to pop into the Barry M SS16 showcase a couple of weeks ago to see what they are offerings up for Spring Summer!

They have a new range of Gellys and Speedy Dry colours but today I wanted to show you (and hopefully give one of you) the new Daylight Curing range. I posted about the last set they brought out here and here are the four new colours - All The Things She Red, Bug a Blue, Pinking Out Loud and Empire State of Mint. And rather than the usual pastel spring launches, they are all lovely bright colours ready to transition from now all the way until the summer.

I put on Bug A Blue on Sunday and have so many compliments on the colour it's unreal. Application was easy as per with the new Barry M brushes, they are shaped perfectly to the nail and have been a really good improvement if you ask me. They also seem to dry quite quickly which is always a plus.

These polishes are meant to be as good as a gel mani but without the lamp. You apply it like normal nail polish but must use the special daylight curing topcoat to get the full effect. I definitely got asked more than a few times if they were shellac just because of how shiny they are! I was very pleased with that.

It seems the nothing ever lasts as long as a gel mani on me which is a shame, they did last longer than what I'm used to with a polish thought so I was still pretty impressed!

BEAUTY: LUSH Valentines Range 2016

Thursday, 11 February 2016

I have just a few new LUSH products to share with you today in the lead up to valentine's weekend! Andrew and I actually have our big plans next weekend because it was half the price so this week we just have a nice meal booked which hopefully means lots of time to have a pamper and a nice bath beforehand!
I have three products from the brand here. Firstly there is the Lover Lamp bath bomb which is brand new for 2016! Its one of their £3.95 big, round bath bombs which is totally white apart from a few big red cocoa butter hearts which are embedded inside it.There are also lots of little red paper hearts hidden inside which come out later on. As the bath bomb fizzes away in the water, the cocoa butter hearts come flying out and melt adding a touch of moisture to the water. The bath bomb is made with Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Fair Trade Vanilla Absolute and Sweet Brazillian Orange Oil which makes it smell just like a terry chocolate orange. Perfect.

The Kiss lip scrub is back again this year and is a  lip scrub. It's a super bright pink colour and also has little love hearts in it. Cute. Made with fine sea salt, caster sugar and Fair Trade cocoa butter and a touch of almond and mandarin oils. I am a big lover or citrusy scents so I love this. Use it to exfoliate you lips keeping them smooth.

Lastly I have the Roses All The Way bar of soap which is so pretty and kinda interesting with its swirly design. Based around Alice in Wonderland, the pink exterior fades to white as you start to use it. It's subtly rose scented but very delicate. Super moisturizing and starts to melt in the heat of your hands if you hold it for too long. It also contains rapeseed and coconut oil to keep your skin soft and smooth.

Are You Stocked Up For This Weekend?

FRAGRANCE: DKNY - Be Desired Perfume

Wednesday, 7 October 2015

I grew up with Be Delicious by DKNY. My mum was totally obsessed and it became a bit of a saturday night scent in my house. It reminds me of evenings sitting in her room and helping her pick what jewellery to wear while she got ready to go out for dinner with my dad or friends.

Be Delicious was released in 2004 (over 10 years ago!!) and on the 14th October 2015 DNKY release their new addition to the collection - BE DESIRED.

"With a sparkle of orange oil combined with tart blackcurrant and dewy violet leaves. Iced grapefruit teases the senses with a vivacious energy. Exotic elements bring a succulent texture to the bouquet of jasmine sambac and turkish rose. Precious woody notes of cedarwood and vibrant amber wood"

Again in their iconic apple bottle and again very fruity. It still smells very fresh and green like the original but just a bit different, a bit updated I guess - the grapefruit seems to come through quite strongly which is lovely. I've been wearing it everyday and I just love the freshness of it.

DKNY Be Desired 100ml RRP £69/ 50ml RRP £50/ 30ml RRP £37

BEAUTY: Barry M Midnight Gelly Collection

Monday, 28 September 2015

I got another one of those confusing invites the other day. It was from the lovely lady at Barry M so as soon as I saw that come through, of course I was excited but the part that confused me was that it was happening at the London Bridge Experience. Like that the same as the London Dungeons right?!

I've done the dungeons before but going alone and at night did creep me out a bit but they are my favorite nail polish brand so there was no way I was missing this!

The new colours are part of the new Midnight Gellys Collection - four off black polishes so it did make actual sense having the launch there.  I am still finding it a bit hard to tell the difference between the four of them (it is much easier during the daytime), as you can see in the photo that I took, they do look really similar but then again, as you can see in the official Barry M photo, if you catch them in the right light, you can easily see the hints of different colours.
Above: Grape, Pistachio, Current, Cherry (I think)
It seems like all that moaning in my last post made me feel better and with a new collection of polishes to try, I couldn't wait to get home and paint my nails. I picked Grape (the blue one) and of course I topped it off with my Plumpy top coat. As usual with the Gelly collection, the polish is easy to maneuver and perfect after two coats.

Don't get me wrong, I am a light and bright nail polish lover but after a summer of wearing whites and mint greens, it was a nice change to go for a dark one.

VLOG: Barry M Factory Tour

Monday, 17 August 2015

Last Friday, I was lucky enough to be invited along to the Barry M factory for a very special tour! As you guys know, I am a massive fan of Barry M so I was super excited to see how it is all made. I wasnt sure how I was going to document it for you guys but when I got there I decided it had to be a vlog!

I had no idea what I was doing really but again and I only had my phone with me but I am pretty pleased with the finished result! Hopefully I can now start to grow my confidence with it and start filming a little bit more often.

Hope you enjoy it!!

BEAUTY: Bowling With Got2B

Monday, 3 August 2015

The Chalk girls always put on the best events and with the launch of Schwarzkopf Got2B All Star 10-In-1 Styling Treatment, they organised a night of bowling at All Star Lanes for us! The night was loads of fun but pretty dark so I haven't got great images for you. As usual it was lovely to catch up with all the girls and do a bit of bowling too.

There was loads of food from mini burgers to mini brownies and endless cocktails each complete with a cocktail unbrella!
Got2B All Star 10-In-1 Styling Treatment provides ten benefits in one treatment: shine, strength, smoothness, protection, anti-humidity, fullness, thickness, suppleness, anti-frizz and shape plus it smells like jasmine and peach!

We all also got our hair done which is something that I dont do ver often! I have no idea what I am doing so I just asked for 'straight please' haha. I used to straighten my hair every day but it has literally been years since I have seen it looking straight and smooth so I was pretty amazed when she managed to de-frizz my wavy hair to a perfect sleek look - using the new10-in-1 product of course. She also covered the tips in argan oil which I think is something I really should start doing to help keep my hair healthy.
It really made me think about hair care and what I can do to keep my hair looking and feeling healthy as well as investing in some argan oil - I dont even know where you can buy stuff like that lol but I do know it made my hair so much softer when the stylist used it on me. I did some research and came across these Hair Care Tips and this infographic (which also suggest hair oil) but lots of other things I can think about too! I'm not a fizzy drink or juice kind of person so I only drink water but the problem is, I dont drink enough of it so thats interesting to learn that it can effect your hair as well as your skin!

How Do You Look After Your Hair?

BEAUTY: Britney Spears, Rocker Femme Perfume

Thursday, 9 July 2015

I must have been the only girl my age who never had a Britney perfume growing up - I'm not sure why - so when I was offered a bottle of Britney Spears Femme, Rocker Fantasy of course I was happy to take up The Fragrance Shop on their offer!

The bottle is very similar to the original with a darker bottom that fits the edgy, rock theme. I love the bright, fun colour and the gems dotted around - I think the shape is so pretty. It reminds me of something you would see on a dressing table in a film.

Rocker Fantasy came out last year in 2014 and its very fruity and a little bit oriental. If you know me, you will know that those are two things I love in a perfume or scent. There are notes of blackberry, jasmine and vanilla running through it.

BEAUTY: Superdrugs Own Brand Swap

Thursday, 25 June 2015

This Summer, Superdrug are encouraging shoppers to take on the Swap Shop money saving challenge. This means trying to get people to replace the expensive branded products that they would usually buy, for cheaper own brand stuff. Apparently, the average Brit could save over £150 year by making the swap on their everyday beauty and toiletries!

Superdrug asked me what my most used branded Summer essentials were and sent me a selection of own brand alternative to see what I thought. They also told me that by doing this, I would have saved myself £19. I know this is bad but I don't really use products and only buy things when I'm going on holiday so these are my Holiday Essentials!

Simple Make Up Wipes
I dont wear as much make up as the average 21 year old girl so make up wipes arent a huge deal for me. If they take off my eyeliner then they do their job so I would happily do this swap.

Hawaiian Tropic VS - Solait Sun
Suncream is suncream but I love Hawaiian Tropic for its fun packagings and its amazing smell - I look at it as a holiday treat. I'd happily use Solait for England but if im going on holiday, I'd much prefer Hawaiian Tropics and its coconutty smell.

Bic Razors
Bic are super cheap razors and theyre disposable which makes them great for holidays. I buy them at £1.49 for 10 razors. The cheapest set of razors on the superdrug website (cant find these ones) are £1, in the sale from £1.99, for 3 razors. I actually think my usual are much better value for money.

Herbal Essences Shampoo & Conditioner
Again, this stuff does its job but I much prefer the fun packaging and smells of Herbal Essences which I use all year around.

Original Source Shower Gel
This is one that I acutally would be happy with rather than what I usually use for holiday. It looks fun and it smells great although at home, I would much rather stick to my Lush favorurites!

Batiste Mini Dry Shampoo
Another one that I use all year around although I just really dislike the can here - it reminds me of being at school for some reason. I'm starting to realise that packaging is a really big thing for me!
I also told them I usually buy ear plugs, new nail files and mini deoderants for my holiday but they didnt sent those which brings me to think that Superdrugs own brand dont acutally stock everything that I would need. I may have saved £19 but for me, holidays are about relaxation and luxury and if its means I have to spend that little bit more to enjoy my products then with most things, I would.

BEAUTY: Fuji Green Tea At The Body Shop

Friday, 15 May 2015

I currently have a huge love for The Body Shop - I am starting to see the benefits of using products where as before I though it was all a load of rubbish  - I was wrong, I am not a complete convert who moisturises every single day although I do it a few times a week especially on particularly dry areas of skin and I see a big difference on them.

The latest products to my collection are from thier Fuji Green Tea range which is quite a new collection to the store, it launched on the 7th (of April). I like the body butter as my new mousturiser because the smell is not overpowering but super refreshing and light - plus I love green tea anyway - it has a fresh spa like vibe which makes it super relaxing. Apart from smelling great, green tea helps the skin to Detox and retain moisture as well as replenishing and refreshing leaving you feeling great. All the products in the range contain Green Tea leaves that have been harvested from the Mount Fuji region of Japan - hence their name.

BEAUTY: Toni & Guy Urban Ponytail

Thursday, 14 May 2015

When it comes to hair - considering the whole of my mums side of the family are hairdressers - I seriously have no idea what I am doing. I don’t even brush it on a daily basis, I just wake up and go - taking bed head quite literally.

When I was younger, I would straighten it every single day but then it was just a straight version on what it is now, plus it really didn’t help its condition when it had already been bleached bright blonde.

So when I have a special occasion and I need to actually do something with it, I love a good tutorial video. This one from Tony and Guy is a quirky urban ponytail how to video which uses Dry Shampoo and sea salt sprays to add texture to your hair. It was shot by RANKIN which is amazing and it is super easy to follow.
