FASHION: The Edit at Matalan

Friday, 1 April 2016

Last week, I was invited along to Matalans SS16 launch party for "The Edit" in their flagship Oxford street store. I popped along with a couple of friends and we spend the evening chatting, drinking champagne and elderflower cocktails and perusing all of the clothes on every floor of the store! I also spend a good 10 minutes playing around with their interactive styling mirror which was quite alot of fun, it puts the clothes on you and you can switch to the next style by waving your arms around. I'm not sure I would use it if I was seriously wanting to buy something but it was great to see if a colour or print suits you and was pretty interesting to try a new way of doing things!

At first glance the new collection is full of lovely prints, pretty, a-line skirts in all sorts of textures and floaty tops in a range of different colour. I was instantly drawn to a few pieces from the collection. Firstly this AMAZING white boho top (which comes in black as well,) I am desperately waiting for the 8 to come back into stock, I want them both! I also loved these pretty wide leg trousers which is odd for me because I have never even worn wide leg before but just the print, and of course the dress I have on now. I just loved the stripes and the lovely thick material, it looked lovely as it was on the model but when I tried it on at home, the shape didn't work so well for me so I had to improvise.

I took the string out of the neckline and tired it around my waist, hitched it up a little and ta-dah. I love it again! Paired with my New Look heels, I fell in love with this simple outfit, I went downstairs to take my photos with my brother and my mum said I looked like I was going to Ascot. I'm not sure I agree entirely but I do see where she is coming from with that this look is very grown up and sophisticated but still fun and comfortable.

FASHION: New Look Denim Dress

Wednesday, 16 March 2016

When New Look asked me to pick out some denim to style obviously, my initial thought was jeans - what else is there?! But I have SO many pair of jeans that I decided to do a little research before I just picked out another pair and found that there actually is more than jeans - there was tops, dresses, jackets and skirts - so much choice! So I went for something different.

I picked this out, not only because I like the skater shape of the dress but because I loved how it was styled on the site. I have never worn anything like that before, I thought it looked reaalllyy cute!

My plan was to wear it with a grey short sleeve crop top underneath and white converse, exactly like the styling on the site but when it all arrived and I put it together, I just didn't like it the same. I wanted to stick with the same casual look and the layering vibe so I went through my crop top shelf until I found something that worked. I pulled out my white crop and switched the converse up for my favourite vans circa 2009 LOL. Yes I did buy myself a new pair recently and I have been wearing them most days actually.

I have never layered in my life so this is a first and I actually really like it! I will definitely be wearing it like this more through the summer but maybe switching it up for something a little thicker until then!

FASHION: My Boots And Me With New Look

Wednesday, 6 January 2016

Over the knee boots are a trend that I fell in love with last year! Those big chunky boots came out on River Island and ASOS and I was sold - I got mine and I wore them whenever I had the chance to last winter! Then summer came along so they went back in the cupboard but I was very pleased to see that the trend came back with a vengeance this year - more styles, more colours, it just got bigger and better.

I decided that I wanted a flat pair that I could wear the work but after hunting around for weeks, I just couldnt find any I liked so I ended up buying them from Amazon. When they arrived, I loved them, but as I started to wear them more and more I realised they really didnt fit me very well! Of course they were comfortable and I loved that they had a cleated rubber sole but they would slide down my legs like crazy. In the end, I would only wear them with chunky trousers underneath to help keep them up and even resorted to buying bra tape to stick them to my legs. Not a good look when they slid down anyway.

Heres one of my favourite ways that I would wear them, I love the contrast between the black and blues. I wore this for lunch at Sheesh recently! Look how festive it was there over christmas!

Then, by some miracle, I came across another perfect pair* in New Look. They were also black suede look but they had pointed toes and there was structure to the leg, it had paneling so I thought it was worth a shot and ta-dah, they stayed up all by themselves, on my bare legs! Here, I paired them with my new witchy Motel dress from Ark Clothing. I can wear them with whatever I want without worrying they'll fell down.

FASHION: Off The Shoulder & Life Lately

Monday, 21 September 2015

ta'dahh - a new outfit post for you guys today! Honestly though, I'm kinda struggling with blogging at the moment. I'm in a weird place with my life and my creativity and blogging, has taken a masive hit - I am finding it really hard to come up with things to post on here and even finding things to tweet or instagram. I spent Friday afternoon shopping alone on Oxford Street which was really nice and gave me some time just to do what I want (and spend lots of money to make myself feel better) but I seriously went the whole weekend having not thought about my blog and or anything. I havent even painted my nails for three weeks and I know that is just a silly thing but for me it's something I usually take pride in.  I'm kinda just drifitng at the moment but I really dont want to let me blog slip I'm trying!

I found these photos in a draft that I never got around to posting so today seems like a good time! I'm really glad I ended up buying this top earlier this year - it's not something I would usually pick but it seems to go with everything. I've already paired it up with shorts on holiday and wearing it at home with jeans was one of my all time favourite simple looks!

These heels were a little taller than I'm used to wearing lately, but once they are tied up securely, they arent too bad and I love the tassles. They are also, I think, my first pair of tan heels so thats cool too!

FASHION: Motel Luella Playsuit

Friday, 28 August 2015

Its a well known fact that Motel Rocks is my favourtite brand. Only problem for me, is it can be pretty expensive, but its a popular brand so if you look properly, you can easily find it much cheaper. Ebay is great for Motel! I have bought so many brand new items for less than £5 on there (heres my latest purchase which cost me £3) I also find cheap pieces in the Topshop sale and in loads of online shops too.

This amazing playsuit came from Get The Lable* and is £21 cheaper there than its original price. Not bad! I already have a Motel dress in this print and I just think it is so pretty. This is an XS which is smaller than I usually get but it seems to fit fine - a bit big if anything but it laces up across the back so you can make it as tight or as loose as you like. I love a playsuit in the summer time, I'm hoping the sun stays out for tomorrow becuase we are having a big wedding reunion BBQ and I would love to wear this for it!

FASHION: Lace Up Heels

Friday, 3 July 2015

This is the perfect simply little evening outfit. It my kind of clubbing outfit although it would work well for dinner just the same - its so simply it would be great for anything!

I got this top on my little trip to New Look last week but I'm not sure sure if I want to keep it or not. Its a super cool faux suede black vest top but it annoys me that it's not a real deep black - especially in these photos.

One thing I definitely wont be taking back are the lace up heels* - I absolutely love them and they are pretty cheap at £25. I'm sure you have noticed that the lace up look is big among bloggers at the moment but it really is a nice change for me becuase when I go out in proper heels, I usually stick to my plain black peep toes becuase I know I can walk in them. These are great because they feel so securely tired around my feet that they are quite easy to walk in!

WISHLIST: New Look Picks

Thursday, 2 July 2015

I think its about time for another of my New Look wishlists and with us being right in the midst of festival and holiday season I am definitely on the look out for a whole load of new clothes. It looks like I'm more into that flashback, 70s style than I thought becuase I loved so many pieces from their collection although theres alot of my usual style with the blacks and bright colours!
So now I like tan ok - never before have I been drawn to the colour until now. I haven bought any yet but after seeing this dress in the sale, I will be off to the shop to get myself one! Plus I really love the shape of these shorts!

New Look are known for their cool clutches from the doughnut (which I have) to the chocolate bar and now some pretty fruit for the summer! I love all the bright colours!
I have no idea why I like these mules and although they are black and chunky they really arent my usual style for a shoe but I really do love them.

This gypsy top just reminds me of being young. I love the strechy material and the whole off the shoulder thing too! I want one in every colour

FASHION: The Perfect Off The Shoulder Top

Monday, 29 June 2015

I bought this top last Sunday while I was out shopping with my mum and brother. We had gone out to get him a suit for his prom and I wasn't really looking to buy anything but when I spotted this top, I couldn't leave New Look without it.

This sort of style is so popular at the moment and I have been looking for the perfect one but they are all so different so it has been hard. Now that I have found the perfect white one, I want a similar top in black - possibly the same one haha - plus I want both black and white in dress versions too!

Here I have styled it up perfectly for England - it's a summery top but I've paired it with jeans so I wont get too chilly. This sort out outfit would be perfect for drinks outside somewhere pretty or even shopping because these Ruby Shoo heels* are one of the most comfy pairs of heels I own. I am looking forward to styling it a bit more summery though - I have lots of ideas for this top!

It was also a great chance to give my new Ray Bans* from Amazon.co.uk a whirl and I have fallen in love with them. I think they are my favorite pair so far - I just love how bold the wayfarer shape is.

FASHION: How To Wear Culottes

Wednesday, 3 June 2015

Culottes were something I wasnt sure about for a long time. I picked up the perfect pair in primark months ago but then put them down and regretted it ever since, I havent been able to find the same style anywhere, in any stores. So when I spotted another pair that I liked on the F&F site, I thought I'd better just go for it this time.

They are black but with a little bit of detailing which I think is best becuase I woould only wear them with a plain black or white crop top. I think they will be great for work when it starts to get warmer. For those days that arent warm enough for a dress but much too warm for jeans - although for work, I would probably wear them with flats unless I was going out afterwards. Here I have styled them with my simple heels for more of a going out look so something like dinner or after work cocktails.

FASHION: #CANTWAITFORSUMMER Outfit With New Look & Clothing At Tesco

Wednesday, 20 May 2015

I really loved one of the outfits I wore last week so of course it called for a post of its own! You may recognise it from this post - I wore it to the Very #CANTWAITFORSUMMER event a couple of weeks ago. If you've been following my for a while, you might also recognise it from last year as part of a two piece (I wore it here.) I actually much prefer both pieces as separates - I think the bottoms look great with a black crop top and the top better with black jeans otherwise there is too much going on for my liking.

I knew it was going to be a summery event so I loved that this was super summery and bright but still work appropriate! The shoes are a new favourite of mine and they look so pretty. I love the gold detailing, especially the heel - they also have gold rings for tying up the laces.

FASHION: Festival Style Picks From New Look

Thursday, 7 May 2015

Festival Season is coming around and although I'm not really a festival goer myself, I love  the styles that come out at this time of year and looking at what everyone is wearing. This season I'm really into two different trends - Suede - which is really odd becuase I have never been attracted to tan colours in my life and also, those small paisley or aztec ditzy boho type prints, does that make any sense at all? I have no idea how to describe them haha.

Today, I put together a list of all the pretty suede and printed things that I love from New Look becuase they seem to have so much of both in at the moment!

Suede sometimes looks like it can be pretty restrictive - thats why I love the look of this suedette skater skirt. Its a lovely shade of tan and it looks pretty comfy and floaty as well. I'm also on the look out for the perfect suede shift dress too.
I (and everyone else) am loving lace up flats at the moment so the logical next step as we move into summer must be lace up sandals right!? These also come in black which would usually be more my style but some some reason I was drawn to the gold ones. Maybe it's the thought of summer! Yey.

Then, there are the printed pieces that I dont know how to describe, number 2,4 and 5. I just love the pattern on all of them - I am obcessed, I ordered three dresses in those sort of prints last night.

The fringed bag which has also made it into NL's festival picks is perfect for that boho festival vibe and a great size for everything you need! Although if you are one of those people who likes to take everything with them then this gold backpack is super pretty - I love my silver backpack but I just think gold seems to be much more of a festoval colour than silver.

FASHION: 50% Off Shopping Spree At New Look

Wednesday, 25 March 2015

Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited down to New Look on Oxford Street for a 50% off blogger shopping morning. Amazing, I basically had the whole four floors of the shop to myself and everything was half price. Only one problem, I only had 45 minutes before I had to be at work.

I spend most of my time on the shoe floor which was right at the top trying on so many different pairs of heels. I have a habit of buying heels that are just too high for me and then when it comes to going out, I always end up wearing the same, not too high, heels. Luckily for me, New Look had a super amazing collection of summer sandal heels which are the perfect heel height, not too tall but not too short - After running around like a crazy person for half an hour, I finally left with two pairs haha.

The first pair I am wearing in this outfit and I love them so much already, as I said, they are literally the perfect height for me and I can easily walk in them while still looking like I'm wearing a heel, they were cheap in the first place at £19.99 but with 50% off I paid just under £10 for them! The other pair I bought were very similar but with a touch of sparkle. I'll get another post together on them so you can see as well!

As well as my two new pairs of shoes, I also got this lovely mint green top half price making it just £6. I also saw it in purple but I liked the green much better! It's a stretchy scuba material and I love the scallop detail.

I'm loving this outfit as its the perfect sort of thing to go from office to dinner in!

FASHION: Prom Memories With New Look

Wednesday, 18 March 2015

When New Look asked me to recount some memories from my high school prom, the first thing that came to mind was Georgia being the talk of the night becuase she kissed the fittest guy in the year out of absolutely nowhere, I dont think they had ever even spoken before. Although she did look pretty good in her mums red dress.
Our prom wasn't like a normal prom. We didn't have a sit down dinner and instead hired out the envy part of Liquid in Romford, classy as always.

I remember going dress shopping with my mum to buy my first ever clubbing dress. Neither of us knew what we were doing but somehow we luckily ended up in Lipsy which was a great choice. At first, I picked up this pretty black bandeau dress with a printed skirt. When I went to try it on I couldn't understand why it was joint up at the bottom. Shorts. What!? And that was my first experience with a playsuit haha. I ended up with the dress version.

I remember the popular kids turning up in a fire engine and I remember one of them turning up in the same dress as one of my friends haha luckily I dodged that with my Lipsy dress. Although very closely! Someone did turn up in the same dress except it had a different print on it so no one noticed.. I hope. Talking of New Look, you can't see them in any of the photos but I was wearing the prettiest royal blue stilettos.

PRESSDAYS: New Look, Crabtree & Evelyn, Next, F&F, Chalk PR, VERY & Motel

Tuesday, 2 December 2014

So Ive been to a few press days recently and as usual I like to keep you guys in the loop!

NEW LOOK

I started my day at 8am on Oxford street for the launch day of the new New Look store! They had invited a few people to shop the store before it opened with 50% off of everything and a free breakfast from the Starbucks which is on the second floor of the store! Great for a coffee break from shopping since the shop is now so big! I picked up two sparkly tops for the Christmas season (You might recognise them I've been wearing both loads) and a huge pair of chunky black boots which I had to lug around with my for the rest of the day! But it was worth it, I love them plus I got the whole lot from £80 down to £40!

CRABTREE & EVELYN

After that, I walked just a little bit down the road to the Crabtree and Evelyn store on Regents street for their Christmas launch. They had a giant Christmas cracker which was pulled outside the store, then they went around and gave everyone a little Christmas cracker and a scratchcard which picked us a gift each! It was all very festive and got my so excited for Christmas - They will be giving these kinds of scratchcards away in stores so keep an eye out! They are such an amazing place to get Christmas gifts - all beautifully sold in decorational, musical tins or pretty boxes. I will be including some in my gift guides to come to keep an eye out.

NEXT

Afterwards, we were off to Next to have a look at their SS15 collection, lots of lovely colours! My fave pieces were the green knitted jumper and the pastel purple leather jacket! We had a look around and then a break for breakfast, they were serving mini toasties and bowls of porridge as well and milkshakes in little milk bottles which were yummy! The girls then went off to get there nails and hair done while I sat on the sofa charging my phone!

F&F

Next one I want to chat about was F&F! This was an amazing press day and makes me really excited for their SS15! There was a whole rail of pretty jewel tones which I fell in love with and quite a few pinks that I really loved!

Chalk PR

So last night was Chalk PR's Christmas event - There were lots of  stands all around the room doing hair, nails, skincare and all sorts! There were pretty cocktails which we all drunk out of little tea cups and lots of yummy canopés. I didn't take many photos at all but that's OK because I picked up a load of products that are going to feature though my gift guides so its all good!

VERY

I love their bold prints for summer whether they are bright colours or monochrome! My super favourite piece had to be this mermaid skirt -How amazing is it?!

Motel Rocks

Lots of amazing floral and tropical prints as usual (especially on the swimwear) and some really cool textures, we were all loving the fluffy pieces! There were bell sleeves and bell bottoms as well as a few different print dungarees and obvs lots of co-ords! It wouldn't be Motel without them! This season Motel are bringing out a range of beachwear as well which I am super excited for!
